Now THAT'S how you jump in the snakepit with both feet!
Aint Skeered!!! May b out numbered but im gonna fight!!! haha Might have bit off more than i can chew, cant believe no one has jumped all over it yet. I cant wait, this is gonna be fun!!!! Hopefully haha
Nope, it was the salesman who finally stopped laughing after sealing the deal with you for the V10.... I just figured it was time to get this back on the V10 loses to PSD thread since there's early 1970 automobiles shown now.
It's better than talking about sprinter vans, mercedes cars, mercedes diesels and diesel race/drag cars; FYI mine is a late 70's automobile, not early '70's.

I agree it's better than talking about sprinter vans and mercedes, but a LTD vs Crown Vic thread, or People who get wood looking at old cars thread should have been started instead of posting it in the PSD owns the V10 thread.

I ain't gonna jump on you either, even though I'm a diesel guy. I'm one of those guys that has not hooked a load to my car either, (the 02 in my signature) My 97 though is a different story. (check out the weight) Both types of engines have something to offer to the buyer, and it's up to them to decide what they want. You can take most any engine and put it in the right truck with the proper gearing and get it to tow whatever you need or want. I have nothing to prove to anybody. I like my trucks, and I don't criticize other folks for what they drive. I figure that as long as you bought it, and it's what you want, that's good enough for me.
This thread is what is called "Off topic" on another forums and I really appreciate moderators allowing it.
But from what I understand they don't want another offtopic thread on this forum so for the time being, I consider Sprinter van a competitor to PSD or V10, while Ford LTD is not.
Very nice! I like the white interior. Ya gotta love the hideaway headlights!
I'll have to scan my pic in from a 4 x 6 photo. I hope it comes out alright.
I did some mods to it before I repainted it to make it look more like a YOUNG man's car. It only has the 351W 2v with the C4.
Where are the curb feelers.
That old LTD looks good. reminds me of a Rancharo thats fairly close to me. I don't know why I just like the big old boats.
I was hoping Ford would give the Crown Vic and redesign(retain rwd), the 5.0l out of the mustang and a new 6 speed auto. To bad Ford jumped on the FWD bandwagon, they ruined the Explorer for 2011.
horsepower:362
torque:457 ft lbs
MPG: 10-12 city
fuel cost: $2.59
oil change: filter= $4.75 oil= $3.75x7 every 3k miles
fuel injectors: $40.12 each
fuel filter:$23.24 every 30k miles er so
batteries: $94.95
2005 F-250 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel
horsepower:325
torque: 570 ft lbs
MPG: 15-20 city
fuel cost: $2.99
oil change: filter= $14.75 oil= $3.75x15 every 5k miles
fuel injector: $360.00 (every other day hehe)
fuel filters: $99.98 every other oil change
batteries: $104.95x2
All parts prices are from a Ford dealership. Add it up. It is obvious to see that the v10 is by far the best way to go. yea u get more torque out of a 6.0 but how often do u really need more than 457 ft lbs? seriously? I am being generous about comparing parts, dont even get me started on turbos and egr valves and oil coolers egr coolers head gaskets etc...
Dont get me wrong i do like Ford diesels dont have a problem with it. And its great to have one if u use it. Yes i drive a gas hog i dont care make fun but i do not NEED a diesel. Now if i pulled a big load every other day sure i would buy a diesel it would be worth the money. But u aint gonna see me drivin a diesel back and forth to work every day and pickin up groceries in it, and never hook it to a big load.(All the "diesel boys" in my hometown wouldnt even know how to hook up a trailer, well 50 percent of em.) I work on diesels i also work on gas. I have worked on more diesels than gas motors by far in an F250. and where i am from there are alot of both. I do have a bud with an 05 6.0 and he has took real good care of it. I have done all the work so far i have cleaned the turbo and that is it. He uses all ford filters and maintains it properly. He now has 140k miles on it, so i aint sayin it is all 6.0s because they r wicked engines when they r runnin properly. Idk i just felt like blowin off some steam bc every other day somebody makes fun of my big gas hoggin truck, and they say drive a diesel save some money... Definately not the case. I did not do this to offend anybody just wanted to speak my mind. I love this forum by the way.....
well here's my position. If your going to come in here and throw numbers and your experience at me at least get your facts straight. 05 v10s are 3v heads. I don't have to buy my oil at ford and it doesn't cost $3.75 a quart. Motorcraft 15-40 cost $11 for 5 quarts x3 plus $18 oilfilter. "Using motorcraft products". An oil change cost me right at $58. Yup slightly over twice what a gassers is. There's quit a few people on here that use 7500 intervals on their oil change. I'm one of them. I change my fuel filters every other oil change. 15k miles. Pound for pound I will always get better milage than the gaser. Period. Granted it gets spent back on maintance. So the advantages of maintance cost isn't really that bad. As far as repair cost goes. Its no secret that a diesel cost more than anything else. However if we run a comparison of the 3v v10 yrs the 6.0 had good yrs in them yrs also. Makeing 06 and 07 dang good yrs.
When will you need over 450 lbtq? Brang your truck out here to work and that question will very quickly get answered. Despite all the talk of gearing tq is the amount of work that engine can do. The engine still has to turn the gears. When you load the engine is has all the forces on it. You will come to appreciate 100 more lbs of tq.

Idle chit chat is allowed as long as it doesn't get too far off topic or stay off topic for too long. A couple of messages to appreciate another members project(which all happen to be Fords) they have put a lot of work into is fine. Where it becomes a problem is when every post by someone is bashing Ford, SD's, America, Americans, American beer, bragging about how foreign cars are so much better, etc.

Oky doky. number one u r correct the 05 6.8 is a 3 valve engine, i know just had a typo i was readin bout some 2 valves and what not but whatever, u r right i am wrong. Number 2, I clearely stated that the pricing of all the products are from a Ford dealership. Number 3 u said bring ur truck to work. OK what do u do for a living? I dont have problem with u driving a diesel if u USE it. And obviously u do. Construction maybe? Do u haul a back hoe everyday? IDK. But it sounds like u use your diesel, and u would be crazy not to buy a diesel. Like i said in my post i posted this for ppl that do not need a diesel. If i had a job where i hooked to a trailer every other day heck yea id sale my gas burner and guess what i would be cruisin in? Thats right a 6.0. By the way 03 was the best year for the 6.0 in my opinion, but 06 and 07 were great years as well. Like i said in my post i didnt want to offend any one im just provin my point to ppl that do not need diesels.

I agree 100 percent. I made a mistake, I assumed and everyone knows what happens when u assume haha. I assumed that most of the diesels owners on this site where the type that just cruise around blowin black smoke cuz they think its cool. Even though they r gonna blow it up if they keep dumpin the fuel like that haha. I made this post for those kind of ppl but apparently they are not that many of those ppl on this forum... Its your truck buy what u want, its all good, until u go around botherin other ppl with it, suh as cuttin u off and smokinu so bad u seriously cant see the road.... I will apologize i am sorry if any one took my post the wrong way...

Go hang out in the PSD forums and you will find a lot of knowledgeable folks, and real nice people. There are some that have some high power diesels, but many just like to have a good daily driver that is reliable, with a little extra kick that doesn't come stock!
