I don't remember too much about the old mans LTD country squire, but I think the only modifications he made to tow that huge Airstream was a big trans cooler and airshocks.....I do remember that 390 going over Donner Summit, pulling the airstream at about 65mph with no sweat. A neighbor had a similar set up, but was using a Impala wagon.
Those were the days, family trucksters!
I remember he finally traded off the LTD for a Suburban with a 350, he was disappointed the burban was not as good a tow rig as the old LTD.
My biggest complaint is when people like my neighbor sit around and whine about the price of gas(or diesel) when they are driving a truck they don't need that cost them three times as much as a car that would get three times the mpg's. Or the people who think you need an f-350 dually with a diesel to pull a camper that a Ranger would be sufficient for and then rail on the people who choose to pull the same camper with a 250 gasser(or God forbid, an F-150). My sister in an airstream fanatic and you wouldn't believe the towing advice people give on those forums.
usually if someone is talking out their third point of contact I will exercise my right as a free american and either 1: walk away or 2: Tell them what I think of their decision's and subsequent complaints about said decisions and then they usually walk away saving me the trip.
my time is way to precious to be bothered by the actions of idiots.
Its a shame the last of them ( the crown vic) end prodution in september 2011.
They have not made a full size 2 door like that since the late 80s or very early 90s.

Cops love the CV.......Nothing delivers the PIT like the Vic. Charger is said to be very fast but too light, impala is FWD and too light.......I seriously cannot see FWD surviving LE use very well, go over a couple of curbs during a pursuit at 50mph and your done.

The CVPI's are tough for sure... you would not believe some of the stuff I have put mine through.
They leave somethings to be desired stock, but when you give them good tires, J-mod the tranny, custom tune, drop in filter, better brakes, tighten up the suspension they are beasts. They will really run for a car that size. I like to buy them at aution and resell them on the side.
I had one as my first car and thats what my DD is too.
Very nice! I like the white interior. Ya gotta love the hideaway headlights!
I'll have to scan my pic in from a 4 x 6 photo. I hope it comes out alright.
I did some mods to it before I repainted it to make it look more like a YOUNG man's car. It only has the 351W 2v with the C4.
That is a sharp looking car! Mine looks more like a pimp car than a young mans car though lol. It was originally a teal color with white top and interior but my grandpa painted it purple and put a black top and interior in it. I liked the white look better though.
Nope, it was the salesman who finally stopped laughing after sealing the deal with you for the V10.... I just figured it was time to get this back on the V10 loses to PSD thread since there's early 1970 automobiles shown now.

All parts prices are from a Ford dealership. Add it up. It is obvious to see that the v10 is by far the best way to go. yea u get more torque out of a 6.0 but how often do u really need more than 457 ft lbs? seriously? I am being generous about comparing parts, dont even get me started on turbos and egr valves and oil coolers egr coolers head gaskets etc...
Dont get me wrong i do like Ford diesels dont have a problem with it. And its great to have one if u use it. Yes i drive a gas hog i dont care make fun but i do not NEED a diesel. Now if i pulled a big load every other day sure i would buy a diesel it would be worth the money. But u aint gonna see me drivin a diesel back and forth to work every day and pickin up groceries in it, and never hook it to a big load.(All the "diesel boys" in my hometown wouldnt even know how to hook up a trailer, well 50 percent of em.) I work on diesels i also work on gas. I have worked on more diesels than gas motors by far in an F250. and where i am from there are alot of both. I do have a bud with an 05 6.0 and he has took real good care of it. I have done all the work so far i have cleaned the turbo and that is it. He uses all ford filters and maintains it properly. He now has 140k miles on it, so i aint sayin it is all 6.0s because they r wicked engines when they r runnin properly. Idk i just felt like blowin off some steam bc every other day somebody makes fun of my big gas hoggin truck, and they say drive a diesel save some money... Definately not the case. I did not do this to offend anybody just wanted to speak my mind. I love this forum by the way.....
