One of my 7 MPG runs was 75-80 with an F350 into a head wind.
It was on a double axle bumper pull that weighs 1600 lbs and the truck weighed in at 8,400. Big brush guard and 8'6" flat bed with a head acke rack. If it was just a pickup and I had driven 65 I could have made 9 mpgs.
This truck had a flatbed with a head ache rack on it. Once your fighting speed and wind, the weight of what you are pulling makes less and less difference.
30' Airstream with slide, about 950 hitch and 11,200 loaded; about 8.7mpg at 65-70. I am about to take a 7500 mile trip from Utah to Florida and back and will let you all know my mileage and truck expenses. I have 80,600 miles on this 2008 V-10 and we'll see how it does.
Pappy that looks like a nice place to camp. That front bumper looks pretty tough. I would imagine the mileage shouldn't be to bad the airstreams certainly look like they would flow through the air.
lol I figured ,, does that setup ever get it's sway on? In AZ you can only tow like that if the first is bed mount but that would be a trick with an excursion
here you can tow doubles if the first has brakes and is the bigger of the two.
It tows fine until you pass or get passed by a semi then it gets pushed around a bit. The new tires should help with that some. I will also be making a sway bar for the X when I pull it out of storage this spring.
Pqppy you hqve any more pics of that airetream? Havent seen manny with a bumpout.
Im shopping for one but want to stay at 9k loaded so im going a bit smaller and probably no bimp
Our AS is a 2002 30' with slide but they did make some 25' and 28' with slides that I have seen advertised. This is the best site for Airstreams including classified and their forum site is the best there is.
