No, he just means that people (like my neighbor) that are only going to be towing about 1,000 lbs max with only two people in the truck do not need a crew cab, f-350 with a 6.7 diesel. Or like the guy I saw at the cattle auction here a while back who was using a semi to haul a 6 cattle trailer that may have weighed 12k lbs at the most.
lol
Well, my trailer only weighs about 6000lbs, but I need some room to grow!
There is no such thing as too big in hauling business.
Just last week I was hired to haul 15,000 lb forklift with my trailer rated for 18,000.
After spending some time driving there, waiting in lines at Copart, than finding the forklift buried in other corner of the big lot, I finally found the weight sticker on it.
23,000 lb

Reminds me of the time a guy paid me to haul a C60 dump truck.
He waited until I got there to tell me that the bed was full of wet sand.

In the hauling business that may be true, but that isn't what we were talking about. We were talking about people like one of my neighbors that has a 6.0 SD that doesn't even have a trailer hitch and has never had anything in the bed and another neighbor that has a 6.7 SD to pull a camper that a Prius would be more than sufficient for.
just think though, if only the people that "needed" 3/4 and 1 ton trucks bought them the price would be much higher because Ford would sell a lot less of them, not to mention they would probably put a lot less r&d in to them....
I have no problem with individuals that want to purchase way more truck than they will ever need, they can take the hit on depreciation then I can purchase a clean used truck with little or no wear on it 3 or 4 years later.

My biggest complaint is when people like my neighbor sit around and whine about the price of gas(or diesel) when they are driving a truck they don't need that cost them three times as much as a car that would get three times the mpg's. Or the people who think you need an f-350 dually with a diesel to pull a camper that a Ranger would be sufficient for and then rail on the people who choose to pull the same camper with a 250 gasser(or God forbid, an F-150). My sister in an airstream fanatic and you wouldn't believe the towing advice people give on those forums.
Airstream..........theres some memories.
Dad used to have a BIG Airstream, he used a big ol' 69-70 LTD wagon to tow it, never knew it was back there!
I just restored a 69 LTD convertible with a 429 in it. One of the smoothest riding vehicles I have ever driven. You can run over anything in that car and don't even feel it lol.
429?..........I think dads wagon only had the 390 4v, I remember......that car rode so nice everybody but the driver was asleep after a few miles.
Man, that convertible must be a beaut!

It's been in our family since 1972 and only has 90k miles on it. It's been garage kept since it was new, but my grandpa's dog got in the garage about 10 years ago and chewed its way into the car through the top, tore apart all the seats and destroyed the paint lol.

Thats too bad,.... you got pics of the LTD?
I think Clint Eastwood drove a 70 LTD convertible in "Magnum Force"......Man, what a car.
I have some pics of it on my camera but I haven't downloaded them yet. I can get a few of them uploaded on here in the next day or two.
Please post some pics of the LTD. My grandfather's '78 LTD was given to me when I was a senior in high school. I got rid of the body side moldings, landau top, gave it a paint job and I used it all through college.

I'll post a pic after you post yours.
Will do. It will be tomorrow before I can get them posted though. All I did to this one was paint, seats and the top. The rest of it was still in pretty good shape.
