Josh, don't worry about masking off the first color. Just cover/paint a larger area than what you need.
Yep that's how to do it.
only thing is inside the door jambs if they are already painted as over spray will get in there.
I had seen on line, 3M ?, has rolls of foam you fit in the door jambs before you close them. The foam keeps paint from getting inside the jambs.
I may need to look into this more as I am going to paint the jambs first to get good coverage with fenders off.
Paint and materials are not cheap.
quart of paint, hardner, reducer to add to the part quart of paint I have just to paint inside of cab and jambs was over $100
Would still need to get paint for doing the outside of cab & bed.
The tools to do paint and body work I have had a few years now.

definately not cheap. There's still a lot that I don't have yet. As for the paint I'm shooting a single stage acrylic enamel. Just under 100 which includes 1 gallon of paint, necessary hardener and reducer for the whole gallon, and mixing cups, strainers, and such. There are some down sides to using it though, no custom or color matching colors is the big one. That's why I'm choosing from their paint swatches instead of from paint codes.
Whelp loaded up some old stashed metal, like the original hood, and drive door off Ol' Blue. The washer got filled wotg small parts and pieces from oil filters to broken U joints and axle shafts and right on down the line. Plus the frame and other assorted left over parts from the 92 tear down.
After it was all sorted and separated I managed $188 of scrap. That will go to buy more parts.
Pushed the engine out and laid a coat of paint on it this morning. Also sprayed the inside of the front fenders and the hood with a little color before I head off to training.
Since I have had no luck with sourcing a solid dana 44 at a reasonable price for the new build I installed the 4" drop brackets for the front end tonight, tomorrow I plan to hot the coils with the pressure washer, and a wire wheel to get them ready for some paint.

I found a guy who has one, but his is in KY. He is supposed to be making a run out this way sometime in the next couple months, just not sure on a date. I'm not gonna hold up the entire build on a axle though.

How far in Kentucky, I could meet him in Tennessee and get it closer, and probably meet you around Charlotte
Sanders KY I believe, basically where IN, OH, and KY meet. He is supposed to be hauling a load of fencing to a guy in in the Statesville area. But no definitedate om when yet.
Tonight I took a 40 grit wheel to the old 4" lift coils, gonna try to hit the insides with a little sand paper tomorrow then prime/paint and install them.
