picked up a replacement one from O'Reillys for $13, slapped it in, found a couple parts missing for the tilt lock, so gonna have to hit the junkyard, but it's stuff thats been missing since before I had the truck.
Dave I put a Holley 500 on my old Mustang 3 or 4 years ago and it's been a great carburetor, very happy with it. And yep easy to get parts at any auto parts store that sells performance parts for Holley because everything is compatible. It's like if they took an 750 double pumper and cut it in half.
Dusty man that lock cylinder was trashed, glad the autoparts store had what you needed on hand!
My crane arm is not just for heavy stuff. Helped a friend bring a tree home from Lowes yesterday, found this as a good way to tilt the tree and keep it out of direct wind while supporting it so it didn't have to rest on the toolbox.
I also started pulling a few things off the truck to get it ready to pull. Carb is off, wires is unhooked from it, and disconnected from the radiator. Now when I get ready to pull it apart all I got to do it pop the front clip off.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I don't remember where I left off so I will start with the front suspension.
I have after market wheels and they would not fit the parts truck suspension I had installed so I had to rebuild the old one. Back around the holidays I had new king pin bushings pressed in and reamed to size.
well they reamed each side for the pin to fit but not from 1 side to the other. I had to use a wheel cly hone to hone the bushings to fit the pins and still be able turn them ......... not fun!
I also replaced the old rubber pivot & radius bushings with poly and the suspension installed.
Front brakes were a different story. again was going to use the parts truck stuff only to find out it would not work with my trucks spindles. so new calipers, pad and hardware kits and I was able to bleed the brakes and had 4 matching wheels on the ground.

Not wanting to push the truck in & out of the garage I figured a small jug of fuel on the fender well, don't want fuel sitting in the tanks and go bad before it is on the road.
Took forever for the pump to pump fuel to carb, bad pump? and once the carb got fuel I found the carb and motor running it was flooding over so it needs a rebuild.
I also did not see the oil gauge working and the temp gauge only moved a little. Ordered a carb kit, fuel pump and water temp & oil senders
The carb was a mess when I got looking at it closer. It had 2 sheet metal screws holding the top on and some other type of screw for the choke.
Mud in the bowl and a few other missing parts inside it. I was able to get the missing screws from the hardware store, some of the other missing parts that did not come in the kit I did not need. A good soaking in the carb bucket and it looks good.
After the carb install I went to install the new fuel pump and it was bad out of the box. The lever was in the middle of the spring, not to 1 side and the diaphragm was not hooked to the lever.
So 2nd fuel pump installed, rebuilt carb also installed and changed out the oil sender, little fuel down carb and she fired up and stayed running. Did a little carb adjusting but the motor needs more temp and may have a vacuum leak and now has a miss I think from fouled plugs from the bad carb.
But at least it will run and I can look into the motor side more when I get the time.
The first time running with the bad carb the brake pedal went to the floor so need to look into that more also.
I did not like where the new clutch grabs, right off the floor, so I got under to adjust and found the Z bar block side pivot broken and guess what no one has any as I tired when it was warn down on 1 side because the bushing was gone.

You can just make up it was half broken

All fixed and the 2nd bolt I bought just in case. I cut the head off and welded it to the pivot, lock washer is used to lock it to the block.

My brother in CA sent me a tail gate and flare side fuel door/ fender to graft on to the rear of the fender for the duel tanks my truck will have.

He is also sending me tail light brackets, lights what's left of them and some other things for my truck.
Think you are up to speed now LOL

I am trying to get paint on it before it gets to hot but don't know if that will happen.
I want the mechanical side all done so not leaning over fresh paint but lack of funds plays a big part in all this.

I'm getting me some Ka'Bluey time in today. A buddy here and a fellow FTE member gave me a pair of tires for Ka'Bluey, and I've been working at getting them mounted on the wheels, and on Ka'Bluey. That's finally done, and I have a spare that I got in the bed and mounted.
Saturday a group of us in the chapter are heading out to play in the mud. Check this place out! I know one of the owners, and haven't been out in years. Long before we even moved to NC. It's sure to be a nice time.
It sits on a little more than 940 acres, of mostly trails. The first 2 levels are all I'd want to do with a full size truck, everything else is for those young guy's with jeeps and rock crawlers. I'm planning on hanging around the top of the park, and just play in the mud. And with all of the rain that we've had, it shouldn't be hard to find.

I saw John today at the car show at 40/42. Wanted to go sooner, had to change oil, and finally got around to fixing the coolant leak at the upper radiator hose, the thermostat housing looked like it came off the Titanic, scaley and rusty as heck, wire wheeled it, new gates hose and clamps, it shouldnt be leaking anymore
