Depending on what is going on around here then, I could possibly sneak out for a bit!
Bob, We're looking around 8:30 if you want to give a hand.
Alright, so I've been looking into paints, paint methods, and all that jazz. This is what I've come up with. Remember, the truck has dents and scratches so i'm not just doing bare metal or painted surface, but a mixture.
1. remove as many dents as possible
2. Fix cracks\holes - weld.
3. grind and sand smooth
4. clean clean clean
5. shoot with self etching primer
6. shoot with 2k or primer surfacer primer
7. bondo sand clean (tack rag??)
8. shoot with 2k or primer surfacer primer again.
9. sand with 3-400 grit paper - block sand here?
10. Shoot with 2-3 coats of color Single Stage - tack rag between coats
11. dry and block sand 1000 grit
13. wet sand???
Now that's for a show truck finish right?
Does that sound about right, or am I doing too much?

Reason: single stage paint edit!

I'll be there at 8:30. Between 4 guys, a bed won't be bad.
Heck, if all ya'll are showing up. bring some angle grinders with you as well. We can knock out the rest of this rust I'm dealing with! I've got enough flap discs I think.
I dont have a small grinder, nothing for body work, I can bring my drill and some cup brushes/ paint/rust stripper disc.
Dusty, There's a bit too much rust for a drill with a wire brush. Most of it I've been tackling with a 4.5 to 5 in angle grinder with flap discs. Does pretty well, I've got some etching primer coming in tomorrow that I'll shoot on all pieces we grind, with primer sealer and DeVilbliss guns coming next week to do a full sandable coating. Then I can apply bondo where needed.
Pulled the driver side window out, popped the metal tabs off, cleaned thrm out, and as much glie off the window as I could. I then used the old regulator to like the tabs back on about 1.5" back. Then re glued them on with 1 minute glass epoxy, let it cure for about 2 hours then reinstalled the window. It now works flawlessly and doesn't fall out of the track if you go over 1/2 way down.
Ka'Bluey and I made it home from Josh's fine. Then I got in the shower and deloused and then back outside to play musical cars, and found the flat tire on Ka'Bluey.
But if something's gonna happen, the best place to happen is at the house.
I had a blast guys, tit's always nice to kill a day with buddy's.
Bob, Sorry to hear about the tire, but you are right. If it's going to happen, it's best to happen at the house, where there is a cold beer.
A BIG thank you to Kurt, James, Bob and Dustin for coming out today. We certainly made it a lot further with the truck bed than I expected. Another day like that and it'll probably be primed up and ready for the real paint. Then there's just the rest of the truck... though the hood will probably get done with the bed since it's in such good shape. Maybe the fenders as well.
Well dang, sorry I missed all the fun! Spent all day Friday and all day Saturday working on my fence, I hadn't even logged on here until tonight. Bob tough luck about that tire, did you find a nail or something in it?

No they're all badly weather cracked. I think that one just finally had enough.
I did not know you were having a painting party then again I could not make it.
I helped the wife setup and run a pet adaption / foster boot at a 5k charity run for heroes in Clayton.
Was nice day for the run cool in the morning for runners and warmed up after the race.
As for the priming before bondo work check if it is ok. Old school was bondo to bare metal as primer sticks to metal & bondo but bondo not to primer.
Yes I know they make primer now you can put bondo over but wanted you to check if that is the type you got is all.

No worries John, I'll let you know when we tackle the cab. The sanding actually ends up being a one man job, since my Compressor can't keep up with a single DA sander, it'd be woefully under powered for more.
