Official NCFTE Works Thread
I needed to take a step away from metalwork while I waited for part availability. Switched over to engine since I had it pulled out of the way. Ended up pulling the head and found some major issues with the valve stems being worn so I redid the head.
Checked the journals and the bearings and decided that the wear was bad enough then it turned into a "while I have it apart" situation and ended up with a full rebuild and repaint--first time for me with that.
All in all happy how it turned out, it wasn't too difficult. It turns over at 30Ft-lbs with assembly lube so hopefully I did everything right.
But I still have a good bit of work putting new metal on both sides of the floor, lower door pillars, front and rear cab mounts and rear corner on the passenger side. Then putting in the replacement NP435 before it's back on the road. Might rebuild the steering box while I can as well since it is leaking.
