Apparently excursion/f250 clocksprings are rare birds. No parts store has them. I've found several online but as soon as I try to purchase it states not in stock or not available.
Am I going to have to go to the stealership to get this freaking part?
Yep out of stock there as well. if you can get me a part number, I can start digging around to see where one is available at. I don't even know the year of your Excursion!
No worries. Just being a smartass, too. Didn't mean to be rude if it came off that way.
A smart *** driving a Ford truck? I'd never have imagined the like!

Now to locate a old ranger, Toyota or Nissan with a 4cly and 5 speed.
Larry,
You know you won't be happy with a toyota or nissan. Go for a early 90's Ranger with the 6 cyl and extended cab. Gives plenty of leg room, even I don't fit that well in a Toyota or Nissan, plus people that have them want gold for them, Rangers are still dirt cheap.
Thanks for the assist Josh. I'm going to call a local shop today and see what he can find out for me. If you find anything please let me know. Much appreciated.
Thanks David for clearing up the year model. I know it's hard to see in the giant font at the bottom of my posts.
Larry, Your call but I would avoid Nissan unless you want cracker john to drop a small block chevy engine in it. Toyota's carry a huge premium and I don't think they are worth it. Folks want big money for a ratted out taco with 260k miles on it. Rangers have their own issues but are well known and easily fixed. Either way have fun shopping and hope you find something you like whatever the brand.

Bob, Reading?
Carquest\Advance list 35 different possible ones that could fit your vehicle.
O'reielly's and AZ list nothing.
RockAuto lists nothing
Amazon came back with one fit for a 04 Ex: LINK at around 200.00
Thanks for looking. It's the weirdest thing. I can find them for 2000 model excursions and none after. I would think they would all be the same but before I take that chance I'm going to call the shop and get another opinion. Also, I found out there was a clockspring recall on some models but can't seem to find out specifically which. Just odd all around.
You'd think I could just put a 04 f-250 clocksping in and be fine. Can't even find those reliably.
James, go for the OEM if you can find one and make sure the part number is an exact match. I've been down this road with one of my previous Ex's and it was no picnic. Most of the aftermarket ones require you to move a pin and add a jumper to the harness for the audio portion to work, then it's a toss up.

Check to see if your VIN is under the recall - Ford site
Thanks for all the help guys. I owe you all some beers next time we're together.
My vehicle is not under any recalls or safety statements. I checked with the link Josh provided.
It appears I have the dreaded 8 pin connector but only 7 wires are attached.
The main one is the gray one. But the black one also comes out of the steering column. I think the black one is directly tied to the airbag. (could be the green one) The gray one has all the wheel controls.

I still haven't called the shop.
Oh no......
That 8 pin is over $500, and hard to find.
