Larry I see the 5 inch lift springs for the front but I must have missed what you are doing out back? Also are you on that 67-79 Ford Truck NC chapter group on facebook?

The 92 truck I stripped down Had a 4" lift on it, I'm using the rear springs from that and the 9" out of the 77 frame I bought. You just can't use TTB springs on a solid axle when doing a SAS.
Yes I am, that is where I found the 77 chassis I got.
Well, the dana 44 is officially bolted in short of the trac bar and steering. But I don't need to do those until I get the engine and cab back on so it is at ride height when I make those.
Larry,
Looks like some good progress. My progress has stalled last week due to work picking up a bit. Hopefully I'll be back at it on Monday evening and can get the cab into primer next week. The cab roof is really slowing me down, being as I can't reach it without a ladder.

A few weeks back I got my cab in primer all be it not happy the way it cam out.
I don't have the bed on so doing body work I could stand on it but for priming yep used a 6' ladder fun moving it from side to side
Did not go to the car show as they were talking rain so did some work on my project.

Heading out to do a little more work on the hood.

Didn't do any work on it yesterday, was to busy cooking BBQ and drinking beer and crown. This morning I got a little bit more done on it though.
I took some measurements to see where the transmission crossmember needs to be, I'll have to do a tiny bit of cutting, and poke a few holes in the frame for that.
full spool should be in Wednesday, I'll get that in and hopefully the 9" under the truck with the 4" lift springs.

Spent a lot of time reading through your build thread. WOW, I had no idea you could do all that. Great Job there. I could definitely use a few pointers. Wish I'd talked to you about welding up the holes in the cab, but they are patched now.
Ordered paint this morning. Two gallons, one silver, one blue. Hope it's enough. Planning to spray the silver 'stripe' first then the rest of the truck. Since I'm trying to get it up and going for the fishing trip, I'm not doing the interior this time round. Hopefully after I get a few other projects out I can come back and do that to match.
It's taking a lot of time to get the sun faded, surface rusted crew cab roof smooth down to 220 grit. The whole roof panel is pretty much surface rust with a few spots of paint. I worked on getting the roof rails\ drip guard wire wheeled with a battery drill yesterday. Thinking I need to get a wire wheel for the angle grinder. Ive been using flap discs on it, and that works for the larger areas, in the end I guess all the little body angles are only going to get done by hand. In the end there is no way around hand sanding.
Got the transgo shift kit put in the VB tonight, I'll put the VB back in the transmission sometime this week. Hope to also get that crossmember where it needs to be, and bolted in sometime this week. Plan is to have the transmission bolted on this weekend.
My guy made me to go to 320 before priming and then he had me go 400 before paint. He said 220 would leave noticeable marks under the paint. He had me doing about 4 hours more sanding after I thought I was finished. Every time I would say "ok I'm ready to paint" he would say "I just can't let you do it, this needs to be sanded more!" lol. And in the end it wasn't perfect anyway so I don't know if it was worth all the extra work!
I HATE SANDING! That's probably my least favorite thing to do on a vehicle.
I HEAR YOU BROTHER!
Thank that is why it has taken me this long on body work, oh I don't like doing it, goodat it don't like it.
Benz, I did get into this truck pretty deep, all I want was a quick fix and on the road.
I stared this a year ago December so not too bad being I did not touch it last summer.
if you or anyone needs pointers ask and I will try and help......just not sanding!
For final sanding before paint min of 320 grit 220 will show sanding marks
Understood on the 220. Just trying to get it all to the same level. Right now the bed and other stuff is probably just going to get a wet 400 sand and be done. The cab isn't even past 100 120 yet. Everytime I feel something in the paint I tackle it, and move to a paper that will work for it, then back to 220. If I can get everything to a smooth 220, I'd feel comfortable with hitting it with 320, then the primer should go quick. But maybe I am thinking of this in the wrong way. If I do get everything old down to 320, and start priming, is it going to take that long to get everything down to a wet 400 again?
I also figured out that the rust is just clogging the sandpaper so ordered some stripper discs to tackle the roof with. I'm hoping that goes much faster. I'd rather not take the whole thing down to bare metal up there, but if that what it takes to make it feel good, then that's what it takes. Most of the doors I'm pretty good with. The passenger door is aggravating me because it's such thin metal that keeps flexing. I think it was an aftermarket door. The back of the cab is ready to hit with 220\320. I've really got one cab corner, that I'm thinking should have been replaced at this point. Damage, not rust. As for the interior I'm leaving that for now, and will come back and tear it all out and clean\spray it when I have the truck back on the road and past inspections.
I really am not minding the sanding so much, though I do keep telling people if I do this again, it will be on a Miata and not a crew cab long bed!
When I get home on my computer I will tell you how to sand. What you are doing is fine I would do the 220 if priming over it then 320/400 wet.
