Never went the bead route. Seems like it would tear up the insides of your tire but lots of folks use them. Seems mostly off-roaders with the bias ply tires though and not folks with radials.

I need some new tires. Thinking about going with slightly larger ones.
315/75-16. Running 285/75-16 now.
Tires are stupid expensive.
Mastercraft has a mud tire that's not too expensive. Just don't know anyone that's had them or how they wear.

Primer came in today. Forgot I was taking the afternoon off to help clear Mary's stuff out of her school. Not sure what time I'll get back today so no telling if I'll get the cab primed tonight. However doors and cab shouldn't take long. I do wish I have more space. Guess I need to get a 3 bay workshop next time.
I can tell you even with 3 bays ( 2 - 9 foot wide doors) and a work shop is not big enough.

Yeah beads are apparently hit or miss, nothing in between.
If you mean the mxt, the MasterCraft mxt is popular, my buddy had some for a little while on his 2500, did fine. Made by Cooper. Pretty much the stt pro with a different brand name on it. 315/75r16 isn't a cheap size to find. Kelly safari tsr and fierce attitudes might be worth looking at too. Both made by Goodyear and very similar to your duratracs.

correct, clip-on to my knowledge need to go on both the inside and outside of the wheel. The next option which we used at MB are the stickon weights. Also knowledge of the machine, and the correct machine, that can adjust between 1 and 2 weight locations is also required. I've always wanted a set of Coats mount and balance machines. But the cost just doesn't make sense. Maybe if I win the lottery I'll get one, along with a full alignment rack as well.

Makes sense. Picked up a small box of stick on weights if they can do them and just don't have any.

So going from about a 32 to a 35. Would going to an LT provide more options? Also makes me wonder how Larry's TreadWright tires are doing, they may be a good option, that's cheaper.

One of these Days I'll get out there and see your shop. Maybe when it's time for you to mount that cab I can show up and give a hand. I picked up another tailgate, so that's almost ready for mounting.

Sometimes, it's the machine, the old machine at the dealership could do either center mount (stick on) or side mount (clip on) weights. The new machine did everything including printouts, road force measurements and multiple places to add the weights. Then of course the monkey that runs it matters. Where are you getting them balanced at?

My main issue is my 8" rim width. I can't go with the more normal mud tire sizes and keep my stock rims.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with the mastercraft mxt 315/75-16. They come in load range E and get pretty decent reviews over the last few years. And quite a bit less expensive than similarly spec'd name brand tires.

I can't find anyone that has treadwright's around here in my size. Website says they are sold out. Weird.

I don't think anybody carries them, and from what I understand Treadwright makes a certain size for awhile then switches. It's worth a shot to shoot them a message and see when they will have them back in stock.

Mine have around 3k miles give or take a few (I'd have to check the odometer to be exact) they still look brand New and ride great.

A 315\75\16 is roughly 34.5 in tall, 12.4 inches wide. Most LT tires don't measure their full height, so a 35 will probably measure 34.

75% of 315mm (or 12.4 in) is 236.25 mm (or 9.3 in) 9.3 * 2 + 16 = 34.6 inches overall height.

I really don't see much difference between a 315\75\16 and a 35\12.5\16. It all depends on what you can find for inexpensive. Oh and for a cheap tire, I've always used the PepBoys brands, I think the are Futura. Could always give Wesley a call, see what deal he can get you.

What's the price you are finding on the MasterCraft per tire? I have some free keyboard time this week, so may be able to dig around some more. IE MasterCraft I'm finding at 190 and BFG A\T's at 186. Price doesn't include Mount and Balance though.

Its the width at the bead that is my issue with the stock tires. You'll see the width at the bead is much wider on a 35 12.5 than a 315/75. If I went with a different rim with different offset or backspacing I could fit the more traditional sized tires. Tires are expensive enough. And I don't really need new rims. So I'll stick with what works for now.

35x12 5 would be fine on a stock 8" wheel. Hell my 35x16 boggers were mounted on 8s.... a 12.5 on 8" is about perfect.

Some more parts showed up for the project today...

96 F350 4x4 drag link, and a TCI fastgate shifter...

Name: 20170615_180013.jpg
Views: 80
Size: 122.1 KB

the 80-96 SAS drag link om Broncograveyard was $105 plus $20 shipping. I got this one for a 96 F350 shipped for $68 and it appears to be almost perfect, I'll get it bolted on either tomorrow or Saturday.

Your door jam has the wheel sizes, all I'm finding is 16x7?

I don't know why I keep saying 8". It's 7" wide.

If it were 8" I could fit more tires sizes.
