Just wanted to re-introduce myself on here. Its been years I think since Ive played around on this forum. I recently purchased this 77 F250 CC short bed 4x4. Im in the process of making it the "Ultimate Work Truck". I added the Warn winch and bumper, painted rims black, added onboard air, tool box and in bed fuel tank with pump, cb, stereo, and a bunch of other misc stuff. Hope to keep this one for a long time.
I need some help. I made the mistake of selling my 78 f-250 Crew shortbox a few years ago and have wanted another one since. I cannot afford to pay what an original one is worth so it looks like i am going to build one. I have found a 78 f-700 Crew with a great body. It is a 2wd flatbed and i can get it for $500. I have a 92 12 valve Cummins to drop in it but i wan't a 4wd and i don't want what i assume is the terrible ride of a 700. Any suggestions. Thought if i could find a 350 or 250 lwb 4wd, take the box off, put the crewcab to it and either lengthen the frame enough to put a short box on or even make a short flatbed. Need it to be able to haul gooseneck trailers. Have tons of questions, the first and most important being, are the cabs, hoods, ect. on the 700 the same as 250 and 350 or are they larger. Is it possible to drop a 4wd front under the 700?? If so, i could lighten the springs to suit me once i got the engine and all done. Any answers or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Robert Jones pha7env@yahoo.com
Took me a couple weeks to read the entire thread but glad I did.
I have a 1978 CCSB 351m-C6-D60. Picked it up for $800 a couple months ago and drive it every day.
Couple picks in my gallery.
I have a 1977 crew cab duallie 2wd in great condition unrestored spent 20+ years in a garage. i just went throught the motor it runs great it has a 460 with a 4spd tranny. interior is unreal would be a show stopper if it had a good paint job on it . It is all original paint no rust no joke bed is perfect no rust. I will send pics if interested. asking 10,500 truck will speak for itself. spurgeja@att.net
Great looking truck. What motor and trans you running?
Its running a rebuilt 351M and a NP435 with a 205Tcase. The 351M is built up pretty good and actually runs damn strong. Has Edelbrock intake, full length headers, edelbrock carb, rv cam, etc. Runs stronger than most of the 460s Ive had in the past, which surprised the heck out of me.
though you guys might enjoy these. its one of the first things you see when you pull into a guy i knows driveway. i guess it came from the ship yards in portland and doesnt have a title so its destine to sit in this spot for the rest of its days. kinda sad cause its not in bad shape, been sittin for 15+ years and the motor still turns freely. only rust is where a dent was in the roof that water pooled in which is pretty amazing for the pacific northwest.
i posted this almost 2 years ago. well it turns out the truck runs like it was brand new and drives just as good. i threw a battery in it filed the points and it fired right up. i also convinced the guy to sell it to me. so hopefully in the next couple months i can get the 1500 saved up to buy it. i was wondering if anyone has ever put chrome on one of these and or 2 toned one?
391 with a 5 spd and a 2 spd eaton rear end. its got hydro-vac brakes? that will throw you out the windshield if your not carfull on how hard you push the pedal. all it really needs is clean up work, paint, and some interior work. im gonna use it to haul my truck to mud runs and the dunes.
the same guy has a sweet running 4-71 detroit in a forklift that i was also thinkin about buyin and swapin in. im not sure if it is enough motor tho. plus the 391 has less than 10,000 origonal miles on it and runs like a modern day honda (quite and ohh so smooth).
hey guys Im new on this forum I just want to introduce my new truck
I just bought it the other day. Its been a dream of mine to have a truck like this since I was a little kid. She will get a make over very soon
Looks like it's in pretty decent shape....I just picked up another one (well..I haven't picked it up yet...but it's paid for...Need to find a trailer I can use to go get it!!!)....I'll be posting pics of my newest one here soon!!!
