Never said I'd use stock radius arms. MAYBE using the 70's F-150/bronco 4wd ones or the 2000ish super dookie ones might work out, but I'd personally just make some long ones with johnny joints or heims on the ends.

The stock 70s arms are to short. Have to lengthen them or mod the frame.

Don't forget that the original 2wd crossmember gets in the way of the "new" front axle. You have to either remove it ane make a higher sitting custom one, or just lift the truck enough that you clear it...i vote lift it!!

Hey guys long time Ford truck owner, have question hoping to get an answer. I am wondering what years Ford made a crew cab & also if they were all 2wd or and 4wd? I have seen Crew cabs few & far between but mostly 2wd. I would take either body style from 67-79 but wondered if they made a 4wd or if that is something I would have to modify.

Plans would be to make it a family camping, tow rig, maybe throw a diesel in there if I could find the crew cab

Thanks

Yes these crews came in 4wd although short bed only for the years you are asking about.

2wd crews in these year ranges were both short & long bed

They are all over, but there are also a lot of people looking for them. We have posts here all the time looking. So just put your feelers out as far as possible...
Craigslist, eBay and classifieds like that are good spots. Many are found on the side of the road with a for sale sign or by word of mouth though.

Those are probably one or 2 owner truck & the owners don't know what the internet is, which is a good thing for people like me.

Found this one on eBay, the only one on there FYI

gear vendors

Hey guys, I am new to this fourm so i would like to begin by saying thank you for creating such a useful tool!!! I currently own a 1977 Ford F250 crew cab (pics to follow) with a 400 6.6L and C6 transmission. I love the truck and recently rebuilt the engine (pics also to follow). I will be replacing the gear ratio soon due to the engine running on high Rpm at 55 MPH....

I did recently buy a gear vendors overdrive off of Craigslist but do not have the C6 transmission adapter. The unit came with the turbo 400 adapter. I need help finding the right adapter for my C6... does anyone know where I can buy one?

Thanks guys and keep an eye out for my pics!

Patience is key. Well that and a large search area and open wallet.

You're not going to find the perfect truck in 5 minutes of looking.

eBay has adapters from time to time. Or you can get them straight grom GV for a lot of $$. They will give you some trade in cash on that 400 mount you have but not much. You'd probably be better putting in on eBay when you find the c6 one you want.

I also have a gv here for the back of a c6 I may sell. It's got the long housing adapter for the c6. You could buy mine & sell the one with the 400 mount...

One resource to check is oldfordcrewcabs.com, almost always a few trucks for sale there.

I've seen adaptors on Ebay and Craigslist. Maybe consider a zf5 or e4od swap? Not sure if either would bolt up, but thought bell bolt patterns for 400 and 460 were the same??
