Looks good!
Which heads are you going to use?
Are these Felpro HGs?
And lastly, how did you clean these shiny aluminum parts?
powerstroke customs LLC. Heads
felpro head gaskets
the machine shop cleaned them in some kind of jet wash and I did a final clean with hot soapy water before assembly to be sure they were clean/sanitary
Come on over and I buy dinner at a good steak house and you can put mine together.
I really need to get off my *** and put the rings in. Also the tech support person I talked with at
Mahle said with the rings I got in my kit it was better to not do any filing or grinding. He said with
fresh the cylinder bore I have that the rings should fit correctly unless they screwed up. I will
still be checking the ring gaps just for the ability to sleep at night.

my motivation is a wife and two kids lol. Trying to have this engine back in by the end of next week.
yeah the Mahle drop in set rings are ready to run but like you I verified everything was cool.
just ordered some new motor craft injectors, J tube, and the high pressure oil lines. That should refresh my HPO system. The pump is a motor craft reman it’s been making pressure just fine so I decided to let it be. Before I could see 3600-3700 psi and idle was 23% IPR so I think it’s ok.
Rear seal installed Amazon seal install tool. Went in smooth as better. I did a good job of cleaning the rear cover on the sealing surface. Flex plate installed and torqued to 69lb ft
still waiting on my heads to ship…… Tomorrow is the last day then I’m asking for a refund and return label. I can get some 18mm powerstroke products heads shipped Monday.
update: Josh at powerstroke customs says they shipped but has not provided a tracking number after multiple requests for one. Running out of time to finish this project and it feels like he’s stringing me along week to week. The quality of service from this particular shop is not something I would recommend for other people. Next week is the start of week 4 for dealing with these cylinder head issues. Maybe I expected too much for them to actually provide me with a useable product in a timely manner. Sucks……
Is the new HPOP cover necessary on a 2003 6.0? I figured mine made it to 250,000 miles without any noticeable issues. I didn’t see any wear on the J tube or the cover
