blicharski1989,
Why did you choose to go with Powerstroke customs head and not Kill Devil Diesel's Icon aluminum heads or another brand?
a 8-12 week lead time is what I was quoted and told that doesn’t count any delays. Too long for our family vehicle with summer on the horizon. These look like promax castings that this guy does the machine work too. He is out of Washington.
I was getting a date then that went by and the next month was coming to an end.
What it tool in total time after they said I wound have the heads was 2 1/2 months extra.
Mind you that is on top of the wait in the first place. z

that was exactly my fear I’m hoping to have this engine back in the truck by the end of April or first week of may.
I had planed to be back on the road September.
I lost the good weather and really did not feel like working in the cold.
Needless to say I am here without a function engine.
But things are warming up and I have started working on the engine.

I ordered a set from FICMREPAIR (still on the way to Germany)
I have a limited experience with the Warren Diesel injectors in my truck since I've only owned it since early December 2021 and about 12k miles but I've had a few trips during the cold weather where I had some gelling issues apparently and my fuel pressure was down to 10, 5, and sometimes 0 PSI for longer periods of time than I would like to admit. I'm not sure how it was possible that I was still moving down the road to be honest but it did and didn't quit on me (luckily) and leave me in the cold. I know people have said that once you get under 45 PSI that your injectors are taking a beating and are likely "toast" if it is driven that way for even short periods of time. My trips were a few hundred miles at a time and it happened for a good 10% to 15% of the trip where my fuel pressure readings were crap on at least one trip. It might have been more. So, obviously this was not good at all.
Anyway, the injectors were purchased from Warren Diesel and I've seen them mentioned on here a few times. I don't know if people have a favorable opinion of them or not. I believe I read one comment or possibly a few more that wasn't favorable but I think I read others that are. I'm just basing my comments off my experience. So far, I can't really fault them so I would wonder why they would have gotten an unfavorable comment. For me, they've worked out well so I would suggest considering them. Not extremely pricey either I don't think. I believe this is the kit the previous owner purchased a few years ago. It's went up in price by about $200.
I went with Holders Diesel premium injectors. Highly recommended by FICMRepair and they have a three year warranty; the longest in the industry. Supposedly all new parts except for the body, IIRC.
kinda stuck on which route to go for injectors.
is it worth the extra money for a 100% new injector? I’m praying this is the last set of injectors I’ll put in this motor. 100-150K would be excellent to get out of them.
Call and talk to Ed at FICMrepair. https://www.ficmrepair.com
Always buy from someone you know or from a well known supplier.
Also if you don't get the box send it back because it's likely crap.
Way too many fakers out there.
