I know it's fairly cold out now, but it tends to always have a tiny bit of "steam" like it would when you first crank it for the day. I noticed that back during hunting season and it was running fine then.

This is a pic of the top of my piston....

Doesn't look healthy, I'm not sure if that's just a **** load of carbon, or if it has burned the piston. Gonna pull another plug and check it.

Well I used the scope to poke around in the valve cover and it is full of sludge that looks like milky peanut butter. Pulled the dip stick out and it's got gas in the oil aswell. I guess I have my answer, at minimum it needs a new head gasket, possibly a new head. Then the gas in the oil makes me worried that I possibly have bad rings in that cylinder aswell. There is a good bit more blow by now than there was last week, and I've only maybe put 20 miles on it since then.

Well, Jeep is finally getting a new Master Cylinder, if I can drag myself away from the computer for long enough. Advance has a 20% off in store coupon on their website, which should help out a bit. Hoping I can get a day of shop time.
[/QUOTE]
I just ordered one from the advance in apex, only place that stocked the master cylinder.

Yeah that does not sound good at all, sorry bro. Which engine is this, the 4.6 right?

At 15$ I'll take my chances with the HF grinder. The DeWalt I looked at was 60, and I try to avoid anything that's Craftsman. I've just not had particularly good luck with them, however not as bad as the luck you seem to have with HF tools.

Larry, Correct, if it's seeping, it's not holding pressure. You can by-pass the heater box with the good hose, and test, that would be my next thought.

The inspection camera may or may not show you what you want to see. I've also not had great luck using the chemical tests, but it is certainly a possibility if you want to go that route.

Yea 4.6, it's probably got 260k on it, and has been beat and abused the last 5 years.

Sounds like a good plan. I was able to bench bleed the MC and get it installed on Saturday in the TJ. It is a world of difference. Hopefully I'll get out there tonight and re-bleed the brakes

Larry,
Just saw your update on the oil. that doesn't sound too promising.

I get the big girl back today from her surgery. The Dr. reports everything went well. He put all the old parts in the back. I plan to re-purpose some of them. Can't wait to see it and drive it. He said it's tight as a tick now and drives straight. He also said it's quite a bit stiffer with the F-250 leaf swap. Maybe gained about an 1" of lift. I need to measure it when I get it back. More later when I actually drive it.

Next I'm going to paint the wheels black.

Did the hub seal and a set of shoes over the weekend, brakes suck at the moment and I don't think its an adjustment issue, had to loosen them due to getting too hot., Either way the pedal was soft and low. Guess I'll bleed them and see what it does.

let me know if you want help. I got all the bugs worked out of my pressure bleeder and just pulled off the perfect pedal feel on the TJ.

You know how good something feels after it's been bad for so long? And you're like how in the world was I dealing with it before.

Huge difference. I don't have to fight it anymore. One handed steering. Hardly any body roll and tracks straight. The steering wheel is lined up again. Doesn't want to put me in the ditch when I hit the brakes. Gained about three inches in the front and two in the back. Which gives it a nice stance. Only slightly raked from back to front but almost even. About a 1/2" higher in the rear.

I took a photo of all the parts they replaced. I'll post it when I get the chance. I kept all my take offs.

Dustin might be right about not fitting in the parking deck anymore.

James it sounds like how mine felt after the new leaf springs. I now need to do a pivot bushing, get an alignment and a set of new tires. I think the fromt of mine went up 3" and settled 1" after a few weeks,at the moment it's about a 1" rake.

Josh, The old 2 man brake bleed method fixed it in about 5 mins, pedal feel and height is back to normal. Being this master doesn't seem to leak, and the fact I didn't get a chance to pickup the new one, I'll probably just cancel the order. Preciate the offer man.

Glad you got it going again. A crappy brake pedal doesn't feel good at all. If you yank any of your old parts don't toss them. I wouldn't mind checking to see if any of that stuff is in better condition than what's on the old truck.
