Official NCFTE Works Thread
Ended up sourcing a new bolt and then bolted it back together and sent it down the road.
After that I decided to jump back on the traction bars and finish them up.. then tossed a little paint on them.... I'll hit them with another coat or 2 before I actually mount them.
Oh... and my new converter came in today.
glad to see you added the extra cross brace in there...
worked on the flagpole some more today... got the holes drilled for where itll mount to the base plate.. only to find out dad didnt measure right... he forgot to subtract an inch from his support bracket measurements for the poles measurements... ended up making it so it wouldnt swing... so now we gotta modify the base plate... lol

I then started to do the same paint removing of the gauge cluster with brake fluid. I did not coat it during the week and the paint was on it a little thicker.
So this weekend I did a little more coating and I am sure by next weekend I can wash it off.
So after I started the 2nd bezel I worked on knocking the small dent in the left fender I either missed or got added when doing other work.
I was able to work it out from the backside to the point I used a file to take down the high spots and a little primer & spot putty or some call it glazing putty should take care of any low spots.
The hood also had a spot I did not like and I hit that with the putty also. I should have gotten out there early today to wet sand the areas to see if they needed more work but ........
We had my 9 moth old grand son Logan, his mom & dad up from FL, son needed to pick up his tool boxes for work down there that I had stored here.
I had not seen them since they moved to FL about 6 months ago. I cant believe how big Logan has gotten in that short time.
When he turns a year old in Sept. wife & I are going to FL for his birthday. Because they live with my sons mom & step dad we are treating Logan. mom & dad to Disney.
I know Logan will not remember but it is more of us grand parents to see the look on Logan's face at everything.
So back to the truck if the spots turn out good I will get them in primer and really look into getting paint on this puppy.
I am going to start with the bed need to pull it apart to get paint on all edges of the bed sides, front panel and tail gate.
I will also get a coat of bed liner on the floor to make it look like new before bolting the bed together I hope for the last time.
The bed needs to stay off till the cab is painted so I can get to the rear of the cab and thinking maybe the roof with wood on the frame for a plat forum.
Oh I also picked up 2 cans of SEM textured spray paint for the kick panels and the dash pad I also spent some time on last weekend.

Not wanting to waste a day off I hit the garage at 6am and it is to be the hottest day of the year so far.
I gave the gauge bezel another coat of brake fluid as it still has some paint stuck to it and hit it thru out the day.
Found a bucket added water a little dish soap and some wet/dry 320 & 400 grit sand paper to sand the spot putty spots on the front fender and hood I did last time working on it.
Front fender came out great hood not so great. After wet sanding half the hood I did not like what I was seeing.
Broke out the DA air sander with 220 grit paper to get the whole hood where I wanted and then hit it with spot putty.
Hit the bezel with fluid again and took a little break for food.
Putty was dry so I wet sanded it and am happy the way it turned out and is ready for primer as is the front fender and a spot on 1 rear fender.
When checking the rear fender I see marks that need to be fixed before primer again.
I wet sanded the running boards, they had been treated for the rust a wile back and are now ready for primer.
I rinsed the gauge bezel off with water and I see it is also broken like the radio one is. Think both can be glued back together, then a light coat of black satin paint and should be good for a driver but I want to use the wood bezels to match the wheel.
I wanted to get primer on the hood, fenders and running boards but it was 100*f by 12pm and I had enough of the heat.
Maybe I can get out tomorrow to get everything in primer?

Put in some adjustable camber bushings so the alignment shop can get rid of the positive camber. Had to loosen the lower ball joint and break the taper on the knuckle to knock them out. Pepboys 1010/401 tried aligning it with a lift and alignment stands, it tried to slide off when they were Adjusting it, so im getting it done at one with a drive on rack. Ordered a/c parts to fix the sport Trac.
