Dustin, how did the remote install go? Everything work as expected after?
I haven't spent a whole lot of time in the workshop recently. Just got some new tires for the kids go cart I've been working on, and one out of two of the wheel bearings I needed for it. I'll have to order another one still.
The ecoboost threw a check engine light on me last week. So I pulled it in and ran codes. Inefficient cat - left bank. But since i'm too cheap to buy a cat for it, I started with basic maintenance. I threw a set of plugs in, since I didn't know when the last time it had plugs in it. It does have 150k on it, 140 when I bought it. Once I pulled the engine cover off, it was about the easiest set of plugs I've done in years. Plenty of room, and didn't have to take off a whole lot of anything to get to them. I did regap the plugs from the store, as there gap was all over the place and just not consistent. I always wonder why they sell pre-gapped spark plugs. Like you aren't going to recheck and regap them yourself? Are people really that lazy they can't gap a plug any more?
Any way, cleared codes, and haven't driven it a whole lot. Should know by this weekend if the code is fixed. It's doubtful, but it was worth a try.

Went well, and I've found my alternator has a pretty good voltage drop at idle under any load, picked up a reman, gotta swap pulleys and reclock it and throw it on. Noticed I couldn't run the fan for the AC and the turn signals at idle, speed it up to 1000rpm, and they work fine. Saturday I did a fuel pump in a Chevy.
I always read 'inefficient cat' as flaky 02 sensor. Not bad enough to fail as an O2, but just down enough to look like the expensive thing is bad. I have never had a cat go bad, but I've had those codes. My 94 Explorer still sports the original cats and I'm over 220k. My 97 250k+ Mountaineer also had the original cats and I was on the second round of replacing the O2 sensors when I sold it. Fortunately, the 69 F350 just has a giant muffler and that's it!
Hope everyone is having a productive summer. I just cleaned up this 20x7 flatbed trailer that I had sitting around here and sold it on craigslist, and every Friday I've been going to my sons to work on a deck I am building for him. My hat is off to people who work outside in the head every day!
In preparation for my grudge race this weekend I dug into the truck to see what my shifting issue was. I couldn't get it to go to third with out getting violent with it, and I was scared to do that in the pit for fear of going to N.
Think I found the issue...
Hopefully I can actually find third gear this weekend. Now just got to slap the 35s under it...
Well... pit was nasty Saturday night, dragging axles on the line and slick as grease.
BUT I not only one the grudge race, but won the class aswell.
However it wasn't incident free, I did 1 or 2 things, some clutches melted their self together in the transmission, or something in the transfer case let go. It's like brakes are locked up when rolling, and keeps locking up completely in reverse.
I hope to drop the transmission a d transfer case out of it Saturday and figure out which it is, but the transmission is old, and case is cracked, I actually put it together about 6 years ago so it is tired... So I'm gathering a parts list for a rebuilt transmission that will also handle the other engine when I finish it.
Went for a ride Saturday at busco, got stuck once, wasn't having issues till someone came across in front, and I had to stop. Took alot to drag it out. Tried to pull a rzr out, couldn't get traction.
Well spent a little time this week working on unbolting everything when it wasn't raining. Finally got it dropped this afternoon so I could figure out if it was the transmission or transfer case locking up. Turns out all the issues are in the transmission. Going to hopefully tear it down sometime this weekend, this case is cracked when a driveshaft hit it a couple years ago. So I'm going to pull it apart and take one of my 2wd cases to a guy out of Wilmington that comes highly recommended to be rebuilt this go around.
Replaced a warped rotor, repacked the wheel bearings on the f250., Then rebled the brakes.
Had an issue with a seized Caliper on the ATV, replaced that and lubed it up, put on a lift that angles the shocks so it rides better, aligned it. Then tried out an electric pressure washer I picked up from home Depot.
