Step #69 of the Ford Workshop Manual Section 301-01C under engine assembly illustrates this piece very clearly.

You would have been having a really bad time if you left this piece off.

I can't seem to find a base part number in any illustration that I have access to. Not that it helps much, but the base part number from Ford for a flywheel is 6375 (or 6477 for the garbage dual mass flywheel). And the crankshaft base part number is 6303 if it helps much.

My new clutch didn't have any cap in the center of the flywheel. Should it?

Ok. I gave my vin to midway, they are showing two different parts, but when he clicked on the front adapter, it didn't give a part number. The rear adapter number is 3C3Z6A366BA.
