Is that the same location? I don't see the index hole in the flywheel, but it's right there on the crank.
The line is uniform all the way around. I think it must've been left off. I'm gonna take a closer look at the clutch plate and see if its ford. I have put 500 k on that clutch. I thought it was stock. Wonder if it was not. I bought the truck with 85k on it.
I must be the craziest Chinaman you guys will ever meet (but likely never shake hands with).
Anthony, look at your old flywheel mounting hole mating surface closely. Now have a look at the rear flange of your old crankshaft. Do you see a unique imprint on both sides that make it evident that the two were mated together without anything in between? If so, it looks like you never removed that piece to begin with.
You said LIKELY, never shake hands with. You got a date to run "ole grey" round when she's back up n running.
Btw, you caused me to destroy my garage. Lol. First beer is on u. Lol. Just kiddin

Wish I would have logged in earlier. I changed my clutch on my 05 (Nov 04 build) to the same south bend setup you got. My stock clutch was a single mass and there was no spacer.
I absolutely appreciate everyone hanging out with me. It is priceless to not feel alone, not to mention all the input. I hope I can return the favor somehow, someday.

Aw man,,,, yes sir, we had a soap opera here about that. It was fun tho.
Man this thread moves quick, four pages in a 12 hour period! So this reply is going to be a couple of pages late....

While I see what your saying Sean, I'm pretty sure he said early in this thread that he had 582k on the original clutch. Which sounds like to me the tranny has never been out of the truck. Maybe I'm wrong, but I could have sworn that's what he said back about page #2 or #3.
Edit...and as I refresh the last page he makes mention that he bought the truck with 85k on it already. So it's possible, but I still think the original would have still been there in that short of a period of time. Or the original owner was an idiot. Maybe Crash is onto to something?
Is it possible that the old fly wheel isnt OEM and that dust cover is machined in to the flywheel itself? Does that dust cover have a machined recess on the flywheel side? If not it looks as though it is part of the flywheel.
Hello all, I am here to address a few things in regards to the engine run6.0run received. We are not here to cause a stink, just to give both sides of the story as somethings we have offered to correct the situation are not posted. This will be our one and only post.
No one is ignoring your phone calls even as crude and offensive your language has been at times, our normal business hours are 9AM to 6PM EST Monday - Friday and 9AM to 1PM EST on Saturdays.
The oil or crud as referred to by the OP on top of the #8 piston, is a mixture of engine oil used during normal assembly and WD-40 running down the glow plug hole. We use WD-40 on all engines prior to shipment on the valve train and any other bare metal surface as a rust preventative.
When run6.0run placed his order, it was Thursday October 4th at 4:17 PM. His engine shipped on the 6th business day vs. our normal 5 day turnaround but considering how late in the day the order was placed we consider it the next business day unless it was ordered prior to 3 PM.
On our website clearly states that we use our Titanium Head Gaskets on these engines. He was not charged for the upgrade to Ford OEM and our warranty is the same no matter what head gasket we choose to use on the engine. Our Titanium Head Gaskets come off the same press as the Ford OEM gaskets and in fact have the same stamping numbers as well as the same thickness of all the layers of steel. The only difference is the color of the elastomer coating, black instead of blue.
You requested us to swap the head gaskets to Ford OEM if you drove the engine to us and we agreed to accommodate that request but instead you requested us to offer you an unlimited mileage warranty to February 1st 2013 of which we agreed to do. That's roughly warrantying your engine to 70,000-90,000 miles per the amount of mileage you are putting on your truck weekly, so I would say we are very comfortable with the engine we sold you.
We bore all engines to .020 over or .040 over depending on whats needed to make the engine tolerances correct and clean up any previous wear. On the cylinder heads, they are Remanufactured to the highest quality standards and no expense is spared. They are either done right or thrown in the scrap pile there is no in between.
Restocking fees are a necessity on this type of item. The reason we do this is to cover any abuse or mishandling of the engine in case we have to repair it. Any engine that is returned is disassembled and every tolerance is rechecked along with all gaskets replaced. However, in a email correspondence we offered to waive this fee just to get this situation resolved for you.
Some have referred to our company as a shed or shack and this may be our first rodeo, we are far from that. We build and ship on average 18 Long Blocks and 6 Short Blocks per month, that's over 200 engines this year. We may not turn out the amount of engines say Jasper or other rebuilders do but we offer an affordable, high quality solution to our customers.
Your EGR Delete Kit that you recieved from us, is not "galvanized" steel as you stated. If you look on the seams you will see either 304 SS or 409 SS listed on it. We have recently went to a 304 Pipe but there were some 409's still in rotation. Just because the pipe is not polished to mirror finish doesn't mean it isn't stainless, just means we don't use Chinese pre-polished tubing.
The bottom line, we are hard working people just like you. We make a living building and selling these engines. We have many satisfied customers with our engines. It's easy to go and bash a company and it's not going to be last time somebody will. That's the nature of these forums. This issue has gone on long enough. We have offered your money back and we have offered extended warranty on our products because we stand behind them. We have the emails from you and from us to back that up. We have bent over backwards to resolve this. So if you want keep flaming us thats ok we can take it. This is our last post on this subject.
I think it is great to have you stop in! I can understand Run's concern's also! He depends on this truck for his lively hood!
Don't make just one post. Answer Questions, offer tip's or trick's. Support your product. Doin it in public can only help you, if it is positive!
I think that you providing the warranty he (run) asked for, shows you got some confidence in your product.
You are watching something that 99% of ppl who buy your product's will never do, let alone for the whole world to see.....WITH PICTURES!
So far he hasn't hid anything. He showed us his missteps and his tribulations.
THIS CAN HELP YOUR COMPANY.......You just have to be willing to help, and support!
Thanks for stopping
Adam.

Are you the original owner crash??? My flywheel didn't say ford on it.

Feeling a little butt hurt are we???? Glad you stopped by to check in. 2006Lariat is right though, if you jumped in and helped out along the way you would not have been flamed so furiously. I'm sure you folks do a good job but if you were to offer some assistance here and provided information along the way, it would have saved both time for Run6.0 and some misunderstandings and hurt feeling for your company.
Ok just saw their post. I never intended this thread to be a tell all on any company. Whatever they say is fine with me. I also have emails. I'm planning on asking maxim4x4 to help clean up this thread after its finished to just the engine related info, then another one about PMM. With links to switch between the two to shorten it up. I'm gonna give a bit of back n forth right now.
Offensive language???? Yeah right, offensive language must be "why didn't my engine ship when YOU said it would?" And why didn't I get what I ordered. I never said any cuss words or offended them. Their shipping average????? I was going off of what I was told when I called. First I was told wed, then fri, then Monday. Just tell me the truth. If its gonna ship on dec 15, whatever, just don't lie about it. So I guess I should have not listened to what I was told on the phone. Not paid for ford gaskets????? Really??? I don't care what the employees of them charged me for, or didn't, I called daily, sometimes multiple times, and every time I was double checking, "ford blue gaskets, arp's, crank seals installed, and the clutch". It's not my job to run your accounting, but it is my job to describe what I want, then pay the bill. Which I did. Well, at least the crank seals were installed (oh and there was a paper in my non existent "full gasket set" that said victor reinz crank seal install instructions). And titanium gaskets?????? Really, the part number is visible on the tab. Those gaskets are $59 each on rock auto right now. With no mention of titanium. There is a pic of the piston on here,,,, u guys can decide for yourself on that. Also, why was I waiting on the clutch, after the engine arrived. I think it took 15 days to get the clutch, I dunno exactly, but I could check (I did get $100 back cause of that). 2 days waiting, $100??? Remember, this wait on the clutch, is after all the engine stuff. I told him that he could've shut me up for a day by putting a clutch in my hand earlier. They didn't even order the clutch til I had the engine in my possession.
Oh and btw, I've been on here long before this issue, and will be long after, and this prob won't be my only post about it. All of these issues were addressed as this thread has progressed. Those that have followed it know.
One more thing. I offered to drive the engine to them first for a full refund. I will still drive it to them and have them put arp's in and ford gaskets. I can b there first thing mon. They never agreed to do that, I remember being put on hold after mentioning that, then when they came back, I also gave the unlimited mileage option.
