The parts guy thought it might be a dual mass thing??? He wasn't showing a part number for what I was asking for. Any chance it's not on a single mass??

You're not supposed to be able to see through the center of the old flywheel. That looks perfectly normal to me. As far as why you can see through the center of your new flywheel, the only answer I can give you is because you're new flywheel is not OEM. But more importantly, where did that adapter plate end up? Do you at least remember when you removed the rear cover on your old engine? You would've needed to remove that piece before being able to remove the rear cover.

NOPE. Go to page #15 of the 2003.25 6.0L Coffee Table Book. Illustration #23 appears identical to what came out of your truck, so I'm 100% sure your truck has always had a single mass flywheel.

I meant that is there any chance a single mass setup doesn't have it???

Would it have came off easily after the flywheel?

Yes, there is supposed to be another piece that goes between what you have there, and the flywheel.

It says you would have needed a "finger type" puller to remove

In my experience, that piece would just require a little prying before it comes off the dowel. I'm finding it difficult to believe that you can't actually remember removing it.
