I think a lifter gave way. I should know tonight or tomorrow what went wrong. The last pic is how it looks now. I'm gonna keep documenting.

If you don't mind me asking... how are you going to hook it up to the lift? I've only see people use the rotunda lifting bracket, so it'd be great to see how you get it out.

That thing is pretty by the way, it looks really clean, no nasty mess all over the intake or running down the front cover. Sucks that it STB.

I doubt I will use that balancing tool. I'm planning on bolting a plate into the turbo pedistal spot. I also need to drop the transfer case n trans to seal up a leak at the joint of the two.

Wow u noticed how clean it is. I kinda take pride in keeping it clean. I keep telling performance machine mfg (pmm). That my existing engine has no oil leaks(dry bell housing) and I will want a warranty claim if it leaks. It's so easy to keep up on it if its clean. Let alone see a potential problem quickly.

Run6.0run,
I must agree it is so much easier to find a
leak if the space it clean to start with. You
look at some photos and think that they just
ran the Baja 1000 there is so much dirt and dust.
Thank you for sharing in the operation.
Here is a cold one or two for you

Sean

Is this work being done in your driveway? How on earth do you have the time to do this yourself? Looking at your photos only reminds me all the more clearly why I lift cabs to replace engines on these trucks (and I have replaced more than my share).

I drive this for a living, so when it's down, I'm down. I didn't think it was too bad removing the front. I've never done it before and it is a very different perspective looking at it from there. It was cool to take the stator bolts out like that. I didn't have to get on the ground to take the bottom ones out. Very nice. I also discovered that my cac has been compromised by the power steering cooler. That sux. There are some spots that it wore holes in it.

Subscribing to this one and sending reps in advance of your efforts. (Edit: I'm in rep jail )

I know I can get all the stuff on and around the engine disconnected/removed but I have no idea how to unhook the engine from the tranny and then what tricks might be involved in getting it back in and lined up correctly.

Nice job and there'll never be too many pics.

Looks just like my route. I was lucky that this truck I'm doing a motor on is 2-wheel drive, so I pulled the engine and trans all at once. Don't forget the trans cooler line that bolts to the engine down under the ac compressor. Hope that keeps you from doing what I did.
