Do lifters never spin. There's no lip machined in the bore to keep them aligned with the cam. I guess the force of the valve train keeps them straight.
Crap!!!! I've got it. The lifter on the left of cylinder #3 has up and down play in the roller. That's prob my squeak. In freakin very, very happy.
Well you could pull the cam shaft and get a re-grind and
new lifters and put it back in service if you wanted to at
this point. Are you thinking that maybe that is what made
the holes in the pump gear?

Prob huh. Do you all think pulling the engine was justified?
That cam prob isn't gonna make the cut. I hope it will tho
I just found a complete set of lifters new on eBay for 150. They must be junk.
I found a renamed set from a quality manufacturer at Autozone for <$10 each and they weren't junk. Their website says they don't carry 6.0 lifters but the application is correct if you search for the part number (which I can't supply since I'm not home at this moment).

The plastic retainers keep them aligned to the camshaft so they can't spin. If a roller lifter spun you'd have immediate catastrophic damage.

Aw man, I thought you had all those numbers memorized. Lol

Between Ford, Kubota, Massey, and Bobcat I have too many numbers to try and remember. At my age I don't even try anymore. I go through a lot of ink and printer cartridges..........
Actually I was hoping you'd find them so I wouldn't have to look them up again.
You know Anthony, I give you credit where credit is due. Not too many guys would have the patience to take on a repair as deep as you're into. Just out of personal interest, it's too bad you're in Kansas. Otherwise if you were willing to pay to fly me into your town, as well as lodging, I would actually be glad to give you a hand with your build. It's just that on the dealership level, a repair to this extent would not be economically feasible to most people, so we never get into one like this on the customer's dime. No, let me restate that. Not even Ford would bother. The last engine I had in for what was originally intended to be a bedplate reseal ended up with a long block on Ford's dime, as soon as I discovered there were cam lobes ground down during the disassembly process.
