Just to let you know, I have been very curiously keeping an eye on this thread, even if I haven't posted much. What I am noticing with great interest is you appear to have the late '06 version of this engine, which is the latest and most updated possible version. This means your cylinder heads from Ford will be part number 6C3Z-6049-AA should you need to replace them, not 3C3Z-6049-DA for 2003 to early '06 engines. This also means your engine uses 20mm cylinder head dowels on the block as well as the heads.
I am extremely curious to see if the replacement engine is in fact going to come with the correct rear engine cover installed on it that is unique to manual transmission applications.
Trying to keep the injectors alive. Dipped them in oil, then bagged them up.
Here is a great example of why care needs to be taken when seating injectors. I screwed two of em up. And ran em for a long time. I'm not too proud, if I focus on my screwups, hopefully I will learn from them.
Here's my rocker arms. I should be replacing these right?
I mean I'm gonna do lifters, should the valve train be replaced also?
Crap, my pics got all scrambled somehow. Well, I'm gonna just post them. Not necessarily in order.
Pay particular attention to the condition of the rocker arm tip ball pivots. Is there excessive play as you pivot them? If not, I would only replace all the black plastic fulcrums. They are pretty cheesy in my opinion. It's too bad the metal accordion spring type fulcrums used on earlier engines are now obsolete.
Ok here it is. Is it just me, or do these look blown
This is the even side, previous was odd
You're going to absolutely HATE me. NONE, and I mean virtually NONE of the cylinder firing rings looked breached at all on all eight cylinders. This thread should be a perfect testament to how long have head studs and OEM Ford gaskets can make these engines run for. They actually look to be in PERFECT condition.
