Even though it's been amusing, I still can't believe you guys are still feeding this troll.
I'm a troll. You've been on this site alot longer then I have and I have more post then you. Looks like that you are the troll cause you popped out from under your bridge to post this post.
Nitrous bent a rod? No it didn't. I don't buy one part of this story. Nitrous may burn pistons of it's too lean or burn the ground strap off a spark plug, and if you feed it too much you may blow a head gasket, but there's no way I beleive it bent a rod. Please scan ANYTHING that shows the parts replaced by the dealer. Or how about just posting your dealer's phone number and let me call them.
How many modulars have you actually worked on? I've worked on plenty that have that god-awful nitrous crap on them, and I've seen bent rods, broken rods, broken pistons, spun rod bearings, shattered oil pump gears, etc. ALL caused by Nitrous and a bit too much timing, and/or a lean fuel spike that causes detonation. That combined with the OEM pieces put into the engines by Ford, makes for a short-lived modular.

Yep, I've been caught red handed trolling away. Maybe next I can work my way up to fraud.
And it has less power, its harder to work on and is less reliable.
Comparing the V10 to the PSD of similiar years, the PSD usually wins for towing. Reliablity? Well, the PSD has more parts, more parts are more things to go wrong...
With a much longer warranty, more usable power curve, and easier maintenance! Where's YOUR oil filter?
$35K out the door for mine brand new just over a year ago. This is the first new vehicle I've never been upside down on. A month ago KBB valued mine at $33K for private party sale!
How much does your oil filter cost agian?
$35k is a hell of deal. I have the X-plan and got a stripped out XL. Of course I only got $1500 in rebates because I took the 0% interest. Had I been able to pay for it up front, it would have been another $3k off for a total of $28k out the door. But I knew I couldn't pay it off quick enough and the iterest free deal was better for me.
And yeah, don't trust kbb too much, my private party value is $36k I will agree that the superduties don't deperaciate as fast as some cars (my wife's Saab is like a rock), but at the end of day it is still depreciating just like ever other car out there (except a few classics).
Hey, maybe our V10 will become a classic and apperciate since you can't get it anymore

Detonation will cause a bent rod, yes, but nitrous by it's self should not unless it's used incorrectly as you mentioned.
The poster above mentioned he used a wet system, so leaning out shouldn't be a problem unless the fuel pump couldn't keep up, which can happen; I don't know the specifics of the Mustangs so I don't know. I've tossed Nitrous into many cars back in the 90's, only blew 1 headgasket out of probably a dozen cars. But I always retarded the timing (if the nitrous system didn't do it), ran the car a little rich if possible, and used racing fuel.

I've seen rods bent from excessive cylinder pressure. Recenty got the put my hands on a set of uber-expensive billet rods that were kinked/twisted from excessive cylinder pressures in a S/C'd 4.6L that never hurt the headgaskets. The OEM con rods on modulars are tiny little things, and they cannot tolerate any detonation under boost or N2O. These modulars are NOT anything like the old dinosaur Windsors, and even the best configured wet kits are simply a ticking timebomb waiting to go off. It's not a matter of if,but when they're gonna break on you.

Haha, my oil filter costs $18 at wal-mart!
Often the 0% interest deal works out better than a higher rebate. I picked the 0% financing on my '07 F150 in lieu of the extra $3K rebates and I think it actually would have saved me $3-4K over the life of the loan if I were to have paid it off.
I, too, take KBB with a grain of salt. Works wonders for justifying my purchase after the fact, though!
Sounds like you got a heck of a deal on your V10 truck. Not sure how much of this agonizingly long thread you've read, but for the vast majority I've been arguing FOR the V10! When I was looking for a truck I wanted the V10. I thought it was sheer madness to pay an extra $7K(at the time) for a diesel engine when the V10 would suit my needs just fine. Unfortunately V10 trucks are VERY hard to find and this one happened to be sitting on my dealer's lot and they were very motivated to see it go. When I first set eyes on it they told me of the $12K off, and that was the precise moment when I started considering a diesel!
Overall I'm very happy with my truck. I can say that if I were able to get a V10 truck for $6K under what I paid for this one I'd be even happier! Unfortunately finding a deal like that on a V10 truck would be virtually impossible; I don't think I could have found a V10 truck otherwise identical to mine for the same price, let alone $6K less.
So in a nutshell, I would have been happy with either engine. The V10 is certainly more suited for my occasional heavy towing use, but my PSD was clearly the better value for me at the time.
