Around here it is about 50% PSD
45% 5.4 and 5% V10.
It was in an article I read a while back. I can't remember what it was from, but I'm sure someone on here has some production numbers somewhere. They were talking about the powerstroke and how important it was to Ford because over 90% of all 3/4 tons and above came with it since it was offered. Around here you almost never see an OBS or SD with anything other than the PSD.
I've went by 3 Ford lots this week browsing around and out of about 80 new SD's I saw zero v10's, one 5.4 and the rest were PSD.

Here the 5.4 is the most common in a work truck, most of the PSDs don't do much work. You would not believe how many are used as comuter cars.
I have seen 7 V10s running around town, 1 was in a 99 ( I think, might have been a little newer) F450 roll back and I don't think any of the others were used for much.
Of course he is going to tow 5.4's and v10's less than he tows 7.3's. The 7.3 has been around a lot longer than the 5.4 or v10, 90% of all f-250's-up came with a powerstroke, the 7.3 also came in International trucks and the majority of 7.3's are waaaaay past 200k miles.
Probably 80% of the E250-350 vans are 5.4 though, and about 10% each for PSD and V10. Not many vans get towed for engine problems here. That said I did tow my V10 F450 to a shop yesterday, just because it's easier to tow for me than to get a ride home (it was still driving fine, but check eng. light was on). A $35 oxygen sensor is all it needed, it runs perfect again.

Same here. Not only did I not find my V10 SD on a local lot, but I couldn't even find a dealer willing to look for one for me. But this ain't 1978 and I found the two things I needed on the internet: a V10 Lariat, crew cab SD and a plane ticket to get me there.

True, but there are a heck of a lot more trucks sold than vans. Vans generally aren't worked as hard as trucks either(except when Bill is towing 20k lbs at 145 mph ). At least not around here. The vans here are used for floral delivery, school athletic departments, meals on wheels, etc. Nothing that I would classify as heavy duty or a hard life.
Don't get me wrong, I have a 5.4 and a 7.3 and love both of them, but mine lead two totally different lives and I wouldn't be the slightest bit disappointed if my 7.3 sees a wrecker before my 5.4 does. My 7.3 is a 97 model and has 212k hard miles on it and runs like brand new. My 5.4 is a 2000 model, has 35k miles and has been babied. Not being driven as much and not being driven hard makes it easier to not be towed.
You answered the question for me.....because it's a 5.4. I got tired of 3rd gear and 3500 rpms to go up hills with an empty trailer. It gets worse mpg's unloaded than my 7.3 gets pulling 10k lbs. So I just use it as a weekend driver or grocery getter.
35 less PEAK hp and at what rpm did it peak... the 5.4 is a revver and useless for towing more than 5K regularly, especially on any grades. Thats why i got rid of it and bought my V10.
Thats fast for a truck!
The land speed record for a stock truck is only 25 MPH faster than that.
Wonder how long it would take you to stop from that speed...
Yes, a stock 6.0 will out pull and out run me, you have 325HP and my early V10 is making 265. Go race an 05-10 V10 and you will get a rude suprise.
Have you taken your truck to the track (Drag strip) to see what kind of time it will run. I haven't taken my 05 bone stock 6.0 Reg cab (130,000 miles, still has the air filter that came from the factory) but I know it will blow the doors off my 06 6.0 and my 01 7.3.

Thank you for understanding the concept of peak hp. Rep points given.... I have a dyno chart at home for a 2v and a 3v and the 2v actually made more hp and tq from idle to about 4k rpm than the 3v. It wasn't until you hit the higher rpms that the 3v heads allowed it to make more peak hp by flowing better at 5-6k rpm.
My 5.4 has the same peak hp as Bill's v10, but he has more low end and mid range torque than I do, so he has more hp across about 90% of the rpm range. People generally only look at peak hp and argue that my 5.4 will pull right with Bill in evenly matched trucks.
