So took the truck out yesterday for a longer drive in the country. Drove fine for about an hour or so then stopped. Checked under the hood and it started up. Drove for another 5 miles or so and it sopped running again. No fuel and a gurgling sound in the fuel line. It's the new electric fuel pump that seems to have gone bad https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATX-E84070 So Summit is sending a replacement. Airtex External Electric Fuel Pumps E84070. The rep said those pumps are good but sometimes a bad one pops up. I would like to fix it right and not have that happen again.
There should be some protection of sorts for that power wire as it passes through that hole in the frame. Otherwise road wind, vibration, bumps, etc. will wear through the insulation. Grounding the wire. Speaking of grounding, make sure the head of the ground bolt has some bare metal to ground out to well. A lousy ground is hard on an electric motor.

Thanks for your thougths!
So, this is what actually went down on Thursday. I filled up the truck thursday (in cab gas tank). The fuel gauge is not working but I thought it was full becuase I had some spilling over. Apparently becuase of the design or something the tank acted like it was full but it was not. I just now started to put the new fuel pump on and there was no gas flowing so I pulled the sending unit and tank is bone dry. Not sure if that is a gas pump issue or a tank design issue.
So I need some help on how to fix the fuel gauge. The sending unit line where it comes down the drivers side into under the dash is broken right where all the other wires are but I not find where the wire broke. Just that it broke... Plenty of good wire I just need to find where it attaches and reconnect. ???
How do I test the sending unit and where can I buy a new one if needed?
To test use an ohm meter. With the ohm meter hooked up 1st see if you get a reading or if it's "open". Which would be bad. Then move the level arm and see if the ohms change. DC has the new senders.
Well this sucks! So the truck has about 100 miles on it and I dropped a qt out of the oil pan to see how the oil looked and that's what I found. Is that a top end rebuild or something worse?
What do you guys think about that pic? I'm so pissed at the guy I paid to help build the engine. ...and I paid good money to that person. I'm trying to keep my cool. It's a good thing Church is tomorrow becuase I'm having a hard time right now.

I don't know? What is the crap in there composed of?

Did you drop the remaining oil?
The crap is coolant. It was at the bottom of the oil pan and came out first. So its not mixed in with the oil yet.
I have not drained the remaining oil at this point. Trying to put together a solid game plan for how to fix the issue. ***If I can rebuild the top end or ***if I need to pull the engine and start fresh.
Also trying to ruel out a bad block. If it's a bad block it is becuase the guy switched my good block with a bad one.

I don't know what I would do if someone swapped my block. .
Something I'll remember when I eventually do a rebuild on mine.
1) When you pull the dip stick is there a foam on it? One place that is always an issue is the intake manifold.
2) Do you have a pressure tester for the coolant system? You can pressurize the radiator and see if you can find the leak.
3) Also do a compression test to verify that the head gaskets are still good.
I do have a bad FE block but it cracked in the valley and leaks pressurized oil into the valley. This is a common issue and leads to low oil pressure but not coolant and oil mixing. I am leaning towards a failed gasket.

Yes... ...I will take a breath. Need to for sure.
Q1) A very small amount.
Q2) I did a radiator pressure test today and it was a slow leak. Went from 12.5 psi to 10 psi in about 45 minutes to an hour. The guy who did most of the engine work said to try Alumaseal because it was a slow leak. So will try the alumaseal.
Q3) I have not done a compression test but could do that tomorrow.
I am (was) a bit on edge about this issue so thanks for talking me off the ledge.
