He did a repaint on the truck sometime in the 80's... So it's not the original paint but it looks way better. Looking forward to posting a pic with the hood on.
That's the original paint???? Holy ****! Well done.
Yeah, gotta love that old enamel. I buffed out an original 64 car that color once and it looked like new. I still like enamel paint better than this base/clear crap that's only good for a few short years in the sun.
I have what sounds like a slight exhaust leak on #5 where the header mounts up. So much wind from the fan I can not tell, but I can hear it. I used header gaskets that come apart becuase that was all I could find. So it was 8 different gaskets.
Does anyone know where I can buy a better header to head gasket? Thxs!
I never had much luck with gaskets, especially the laminated ones. I eventually quit using them on the FE engines and just used high heat silicon instead.
On my '69, I just put a new set of Hooker headers on it. I used the laminated FelPro gaskets with a touch of red silicone on each side to glue them tight.
I suggest "Stage 8" brand locking header bolts. In the past I had them on two different vehicles. Years later when I sold them, both vehicles still had their Original header gaskets on.

Thanks Jeff,
I'll do a search for those.
Here are the header gaskets I ordered. Will install this weekned.
Drove the truck over to show my grandmother. Lights on the truck are off (in the pic) but it looks like the right turn signal is winking. ;-) A wink from above... I would like to see him (my Grandfather) smile about his truck.

Prolly too late now but I'd bet Summit carries the Stage 8 bolts also.
I think that's Cool you took it to her......and Grandpa above. Funny thing is, I wink with my right eye as well.
So, did you guys pick up on the fact that I put the engine in but still had to put headers on? Well yesterday the light came on in my head. I had to pull the engine out to drop the passerger side header in and for that matter the drivers side. So today I removed what was installed, pulled the engine and dropped it back it. Bolted the bell housing back on. And as you can see the left side is on. Starter is back on as well.
I've never seen a dip stick tube located there before on an FE. It's looks real nice bud. That hood looks great too!
