Now, that is the ultimate description of Bump instrument clusters and displays. I have one of each, the individual wired and the circuit board instruments. Let me know if you want one...

Yes, that is one fantastic Instrument Panel break down and build up! Nicely done!

I'm getting ready to put the differential back in and found this link. http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/Gear_Setup/

I have a list of things to complete over the next few days. Getting ready to drop the engine back in.

Thxs, Baja.

Let me see how it goes once the engine is in. I know none of my gauges are working but they look fine. I want to put a tac in there as well. So going to look at some options.

Since most tachs are round, and so are the instruments in the old F500's thru F750's, they make for very nice instrument clusters... check this one out...

That does have a good look. Does the F500 cluster have the same plug or does it require some rework of wires?

left side will be the new shims going in soon. Right side are the old shims. See the one that spun? I removed the differential by hand without any force. So I'm going to add .010 to the total for the new shims and put them in.

Nice! So do you have one of those from 1972? The plug is diff for the 72. I would like to find one like that last pic you posted.

That's where the shims will go later today. Housing is cleaned. Gears look good. Becuase I pulled the diff out by hand (as you can see from the shims above) I will increase the shims by .010 and reinstall the diff.

What do those numbers mean?

The one I got came from a 1969 F600 truck, and it plugged right into my 1968's wiring.... I am going to hazard a guess here, and just perhaps. the big truck's gauge wiring did not change as rapidly as the pick ups.. Jeff will know on that score...

I have seen the F600 dash gauges on Evilbay

As best I can figure, the big truck clusters went to a printed circuit board connector about 1978. I've had 9 of these clusters. All but one of them had hard wired connectors. I've had one that had a printed circuit board connector and it came from a '78 F600. I've seen one other printed circuit board big truck cluster on ebay that was also from a '78 model F600.

You are right as rain as usual Steve. 1978 was the 1st year all of Ford's big trucks got a printed circuit board. B, C, CL, F, L, LN, LNT, and LTS. So 1977 and older F500 body style truck cluster's wiring will plug right in to 67/69 Bumps. 70/72 Bumps will have to adapt the wiring. Like maybe the donor truck's dash harness plug.

BTW, I can't take credit for the cluster pics and write up. I borrowed that from "the other site".

Jim is doing the engine build. I cleaned the rocker rails and some other small details but he is the Ford FE guy.
