O2TA -ARA or Jeff, should that be D2TA-ARA?
603305-1 4.09
Yep. D2TA-ARA. It is a Dana 44.6 HD. 3500#. axle. The Spindle was part number C7TZ3105E. None on any of my locators. You might have a machine shop weld that trail up and machine it back smooth.
D1TA-SA is parts list 94. Parts list 94 is a Dana 60, locking rear end, 71/72 so it has a one piece differential case. After F30,001 so it does have the big nuts and washers. The washer was part number B6Y1124A. Replaced by B6Y1124B. Discontinued. Since yours looks different I am guessing your local parts store can sell you some aftermarket ones. If not let me know.
Thanks Jeff.
How do I know if the axle TRAC-LOC limited slip rear end is ok or if it needs attention? Or is that accurate? Trying to learn about the axles. King4x4 said it was a Heavy Duty rear end which sounds right becasue he (my grandfather) did special order the truck.
Apx 70% of the miles on the truck were long hunting trips out west or up to Ontario, Canada.
Apx the other 30% of the miles were on 3 different farms as a work fram truck. So short trips and a lot of gravel roads and dirt fields.
By taking it apart and checking the steel plates and friction discs in the locker for wear. If it were me I'd replace them while you're in there. That way you KNOW they are fresh. Originally there were 8 steels and 8 friction discs in there. Ford had a kit of these part number D1TZ4880A. Which was replaced by E3TZ4880A and then E8UZ4880A. I don't know if the later numbers were also 8/8 or if they had less but thicker ones.

I am watching this thread with an Eagle eye, as my truck has '72 running gear now. I also have the 44HD 12 bolt, 3500 lb. closed knuckle front end, and have gone entirely through it using all USA made Timken bearings. I concur with El Rey, on the machine shop repair to the hub. You might watch Evilbay for a spare, as I found 2 there some years ago, and have them in my parts box for future repairs if needed. Take your time, do it right, and you will have no regrets in the future, at least not with your truck.
This is the only place that shows up on my locaters. Fred Grande Ford

Jeff, I bought the above core support / rad support today. Pretty excited until back home, I only had a few minutes to check out the rad support. 10 hour round trip drive. Anyway, I need some help because the part number does match but it looks like there are some holes missing. I will post some pics of the rad support. I could not find a stamp in the metal, just a ford sticker.
Rad Support is Not correct. It is close! So need to solve this challenge. I read somewhere the rad supports from 73-79 Dent side would work on the 67-72 Bump side with drilling some holes. I think what I have is a 73 -79 Dent core support. So I either sell the one I just bought (as they said I could not return it b/c it was sheet metal) or I fab it to work on my 72. I'm going to look closer tomorrow but I'm not sure the rad support I have will work at all. I hope I'm wrong.
Yes, I'm getting way ahead of myself as I'm not even close to actually installing it. I'm trying to find correct parts so when I'm ready to tear the front end down I will have it ready to rebuild.
I paid a high price for the rad support so really appreciate thoughts on how to proceed.
http://www.fordification.com/tech/radsupport.htm This guy takes a dent rad support and starts to make it work for a bump but not sure if he was able and I think it would be cleaner to buy a 2wd support and cut wings off my 4x4 core support and weld them on the 2wd.

Reason: Found New Info
I may have found something... The core support I just bought (I think) is for 67-72 F500 F750 Big Ford truck. The number on the part is the same except the last part which should be "C" not "B".
C7TZ-16138-B 67-72 F250 4x4 Core Support (what i thought i was buying)
C7TZ-16138-C 67-72 F500 and F750 Core Support (what is sitting in my garage)
On the part number, it seems someone made a mistake when they put the sticker on the part.
I'll make a call Monday to see if they will take the part back... but they already said no returns so we will see.

It being a C7TZ16138C does make sense. Yes, Ford's warehouse help did put the correct stickers on the incorrect part every once in a while back in the day. And notice what day is on that sticker. 8/8/88. In my January 1989 OSI (part number replacement and interchange) slide it shows C7TZ16138C being replaced by D1TZ16138A. In theory that part was pulled and mis-labeled before the part number change.
