The above is a "for now" fix. ...and works. I made a cardboard pattern then fabrication then application. So it fits and works. I will remove and paint the new part. Once I have the truck on the road I will take and have the new bottom plate welded to the old cab mount. :-)
I'd clean off cab mount base with wire wheel the best you can so that it can may be welded as it might be to rusted an thin to weld to. Just sayin Not easy welding to rusted thin metal with that thick base plate.

If the horn don't work you can pretty much figure that the rag joint needs gone replacing.
As it has the grounding contact lead the bolts.

Interesting. The horn does Not work but I can hear the relay click when testing it and listening carefully. I hotwired the horn and the horn is fine. So you are saying there is a connection between the horn and rag joint. With this new revelation I will inspect the rag joint.
These Dorman steering couplers are designed to replace damaged, bent, or worn-out OEM steering couplers. They feature steel construction and stock mounting positions for an easy installation. Available for most vehicles, Dorman steering couplers provide steering performance that you can count on.
These are the bolts from the Wheel Cylinder. I'm cleaning and doing prep for the patient LOL. Way cool to see the Navy Decal anchor on the bolts as he was a Navy Gunner in WWll. Any idea why the bolts have those markings?
They might have been Navel stainless steel. The Military would have a marking on some things to show it was Govt property. But I don't think they were factory original.
I ordered a set of Wagner Wheel Cyliners from RockAuto for the front. The truck had Wagner WC on it and wanted to put the sames ones back on. I have the bearing races out and ready for the new ones. New bearings should here soon.
I have been cleaning parts and doing prep for the right side to go back together. I have to complete this side so I can turn the truck around and start on the left side.
Where can I find Lock-out hub? aka Actuating ****? Both of the **** function (I think) but the other one is very stiff and the Ford part is tore off. I remember that side always being hard and he would use pliers. When I take the other side down I will see if I can find out why and fix it. In the mean time does anyone know where I can find one or a set of these OEM *****? Thxs:
I could not find any of the Ford original hubs or parts when rebuilding mine, so bought direct from Warn Hubs, and ordered the HD replacement. It has the brass center, which won't break like the Ford ones. I still have my Ford ones, and do not intend to ever use them, so if you cannot find the parts in the USA, I will bring the centers North with me in late Jan, and ship them to you if you wish.?? The price is FREE, you just pay the shipping from Texas...
