I digress a bit here, but I want to share a funny, but true story of 1997, when I was a Captain on a charter fishing boat, out of Sitka Alaska. A couple, who were University professors, had chartered my boat for a day. It was howling 30+ knots of wind, with 12ft seas. I offered their money back, or a future date, but they declined and insisted on going out. Well, shortly, the wife got sick, and laid down in the back of that boat, on the deck. She was still throwing up, but did not get up. As the boat rolled, her urp, would flow away, and then back. She was miserable.. so her husband dipped a bucket of 42 degree water, and poured it on her... I expected anything but her "Thank you Honey". I offered to turn around, when the wind came up more as did the seas. When the husband tried to enter the cabin, the door swung and got him in the forehead, knocking him to the deck, with blood spurting as only a head wound can. I pulled out the large Kotex and taped it to his head, which stopped most of the bleeding. The wife was still upchucking, and right then, in the middle of the pandemonium, a huge Lingcod took the bait on her pole. Like a trooper, she got to her knees, and fought that fish, while the husband tried to sit up.. Eventually we got the fish, returned to the dock, her with puke all in her hair, and him with a Kotex on his head. All the other charter captains watched as they thanked me profusely, for the great fishing trip, and the best trip of their lives.. You should have seen the looks they, and I got as they walked off with their fish fillets. Priceless, is all I have to say...

Baja
WOW!
Normally when someone calls it a "fishing story" they mean it in a negative way. Meaning a bull story.
But Baja, in a Very Positive way I gotta say........WHAT A FISHING STORY!!!!!
Aw yes Russ,
The stand by Kotex for all those big Cuts and much cheaper then he large gauze pads and their sterile is what the Doctor told me to use kotex if, I ran out of the 4x4 in. gauze pads they taped on me after shoulder surgery at the VA.

LOL... so I've been off line today and come back to some wild stories lol. And Jeff, I think I bought that First Aid Kit in the late 80's early 90's when I lived in AZ.
Baja, what a story!!! I bet they still talk about that fishing trip :-) When I lived in AZ would go down to Rocky Point and camp out on the beach. The wind would always blow the tent sideways and those showers at the beach were interesting. But the fresh shrimp and those fresh tortilla shells were outstanding!
You guys are serious about your "creative" first aid tool kits lol.

Yepper. I was thinking that you're giving that closed knuckel a whole bunch of help right in front of a first aid (help) cabinet.
Steel Cab Mounts / Someone said DC had the heavy ones but the fit might not be perfect. I have been reading up on the mounts. Read that Sherman cab mounts and Goodmark reproduction parts were good.
***I have to wait a week for my front axle bearings to come in so looking at the next important item.
Who has the best cab mounts? If I could find OEM I would buy OEM?
DC had started selling the stamped out ones same as LMC was selling them for $29.00 bucks .
Don't know if they stopped, the oem style you want were like $89.00 bucks (each.)rust on them was free.
Thought mind were good until, I pushed a screwdriver through them in a few places. Just start poking them all over then you'll know the bad news.
I change mine out while the cab an fender still on.
But best to remove the fender, get a spot weld drill bit an drill all the tack welds out. A hand die grinder with a 2" wheel to cut the front part of the mount where it rest under the fire wall lip.
I used a saws all to cut the cab cushion bolts off an the cushions apart as no saving them either.
Me not having a welder any more I bolted mine back into place with 5/16"x 1" stainless bolts with nylon locking nuts an larger finder washers.
Then painted the whole floor with Por~15 an used a boat heavy patch blanket of fiberglass crosshatch for covering a few small holes an laid it on the floor pan to build up an support the floor pan areas as it was thin. I did a base coat first waited a little while then put the fiber glass blanket on an repeated coating all with poured Por-15.

Dennis Carpender?
Sherman?
Goodmark?
They weren't separate from Ford. They came assembled with the floor. I got a CD catalog finally but can't figure out how to grab pics and post them here.
Hey Bill, can you please post Sheetmetal Illustration section page 23?

Oh, that explains why OEM cab mounts are so hard to find lol

Thanks for posting NumberDummy! and I'll look for Bill to post the other page.
I'm a little discouraged about the floor pans and front steel cab mounts. The guy who bought the truck from my grandfather put carpet in which looked nice but held moisture. So the floor pans are rough enough that they will both need to be replaced down the road. As I have said, the right front cab mount is gone on the bottom only but not all of it. I'm going to try to have a body shop do the cab mounts and floor pans. So I will be making some calls. In the mean time I will fix the cab mount with a flat steel plate cut to match the bottom of cab mount. I'm thinking that will work for now until I can do the cab mounts and floor pans.
Carpet at least sucked up the leaking rain that came in a few places.
This is places they leak
1. windshield wiper pivot inside flange gaskets
2. windshield seal gasket the Stainless Steel trim was worse as the sun really dried it out.
3. wind wing vent gaskets leaked,
4. heater core leaking.
The rubber floor mats were the worse for keeping it wet where as carpeting would dry out faster but if it keeps getting wet all winter long yr after yr it has to rust.
It would have been better with out anything on the floor as it would have been seen may be taken care of long ago.
My leak was the wiper pivot flange below gasket old & my rubber replacement
Oh I forgot about one more place water leaked in if the sealer cracked was the fire/wall joint lip where the cab mount lip is tack welded to. I removed and rust treated it then added sealer to it..
If the hood seal is cracked or missing rain runs down the firewall into this lip an finds it's way under the sealer an rust out enough to find it's way into the cab.
