Got cage cut out of Blue..
Then started sanding down the replacement body, got a little bit of Bondo to spread but not to bad. Hit it with 80 grit.
Then I went back to blue and started stripping it down.
I guess I got a little bit of progress done for today anyways.
Yesterday did a little more wiring done and traced out some cut wires. They are part of the AC harness but no clue what the cut wires are for in the radio area.

Also got coolant hoses hooked up other than 1 heater hose. I cut them to fit pump to heater and forgot about the intake water heater so the hose is too short.
Also made a bracket for the air filter housing just need to paint it.

Today dragged the truck outside so I could get the parts truck moved around to make room so I can start work on the flare side bed.

Then setup the bed work area.

With the area setup I pulled the fenders off the side panels.

Next up plasma cut the style side bed down to use parts for the flare side.

Garage was one of the reasons we bought the house so I could work on my "projects" in my garage. My garage also has a work shop to the right that has shelves with all my parts and supplies and a large table, frig & micro.
I do have 1 project car in the 2 car house garage so my DD sits outside.

Then when I got home did some more measuring of the long bed and the project truck to see how I am going to pull off using the LB parts for the flare side bed.
Then took the plasma knife to the sides of the LB.

I will use some of the side panel metal to repair the lip on the flair side bed sides.

Marked out all the bolts & cross braces on the LB so I can do more cutting on it.

Then I started stripping the donor cab for Ol blue down, just got to pop the 2 rear cab mount bolts out and it's ready to come of the frame.
This afternoon I picked up the intake for the 351
Back at it at 6am.
Wanted to get the LB stripped down so I could set it on the truck to see what "fine tuning" was needed.
Made the bed shorter.

I also drilled out all the spot welds for the front cross member to use as the bed bolts go thru it.
Got the sides cut off. Got to say the lineX bed liner is nasty stuff! It cuts fine with the Sawzall but the plasma cutter melts & catches it on fire! Then it stays a wet/gooey/ sticky mess.

Few more measurements and almost dropping the bed twice getting it on the truck.
It has the cross member sitting on the frame but the LB also has 1 close by. The holes do not line up so I need to pull the bed off and remove it and place the right one in it's right place.

The right CM is not in place but I did cut it shorter. I will tack weld the front CM then remove the bed to finish welding it.

Once all the cross members are in place I will flatten the side down and start trimming it and fitting the side & front panels, I don't have a tail gate (yet).
I will also look into a "roll pan" for the rear cross member like the stock one.
I don't know if it will work out right but being a style side duel tank floor it has brackets for the filler hoses to support them.
Once the bed is to a point I like it I will pull it off and apart for body work & painting.
