They do check for tampering on the pre 1996 year models. The catalyst equipment has to be there if factory installed, It doesn't have to work though.
Be Good!
Yes true, that's the "visual" inspection. I guess that depends a lot on which place you go to. I remember 2 years ago I was worried about the 87 Mazda pickup I did with a Ford 302, like what is he gonna say when he opens looks at THIS. But he didn't say anything about the emissions, instead he took us over to his 88 Ranger to show us the 302 install he did on HIS truck!
Trick is finding a crayon eater that doesn't know these well enough to know what to look for
My concern is if I guess wrong it goes in to the system where it get's flagged in the state computer, for anyone else doing the inspection. I'd like to have it on the road this weekend. I'll be heading down to Raeford to hit the range Saturday, and if the trailer is ready I'll bring it back. Which reminds me. I need to address lights and trailer brakes on the one ton at some point. Lights should probably be before I tow the trailer though.
Broke down and ordered a Cat with clamps to install this week. Then i'll run it down the road and send it for inspection if I get chance to before the weekend. If not I'll run the jeep for the weekend again.
After gettimg home today, decided to start cutting the cage out of Ol blue, got 1 bar cut out...
I have tomorrow off, plan is to hopefully get the cage cut out tomorrow. If I have time, or decide to take a break from that I'll start sanding the other cab down and maybe pickup a small can of Bondo to fix the minor issues with the replacement cab.
I now have another project engineto pull, and hopefully truck to part out/sell. Also dually went metal to metal on Passenger side front about 40 miles from home today, so now have to do a brake job on it aswell.
I also took Friday off because I got sick time to burn before the end of the year. So what ever doesnt get done tomorrow will get worked on Friday.... So many projects... So little time.
