I believe you're referring to these

Of course, better engineering would be preferable.

I talked to the Service Managers at both dealers I have worked with. (1) where I bought it and (2) where I have service done. Both said no way does Ford pay for the pads. The dealer where I bought it said that they have not even replaced any.
So, is Raybestos still considered the best, if so, does anyone know a time frame when they will be coming out with the right pads?

Ford has not and probably will not replace the pads but some dealers are.

All, just did some checking, Advance Auto Parts here in Ohio lists a ceramic pad by Friction Master - CMX702.

Here's the link: http://www.partsamerica.com/PartDeta...pe=219&PTSet=A

If that doesn't work just go to www.advanceautoparts.com and go through the menu on brake pads.

after reviewing all comments in here about the brake dust problem on the expeditions my conclusion is that i beleive the factory brakes are the best choice they were engineered for this vehichle no no doubt provide the best stopping ability of any pads available----yes i know there is a terrible problem with the brake dust you all know that of course as i do and that the wheels and tires and the front of the running boards become a mess and need a time consuming scrubbing everyday or two and that it takes 30 miniutes a wheel with all the right wheel brushes i hate it as much as u all do mabe more im a natual born slob but by gosh im a clean freak when it comes to vehicles. i talked with several folks here by brother in law who is employed by gm tells my that gm brakes are dirty too and the factory isnt concerned with it and i talked with my friend who owns a detail shop here and says he uses the kleen wheels and has had for a few years and that they work really well he did tell me that on occassion they will rub the calaper and if this happens you will see where the rough spot on the caliper is and to just smooth it with a dremel. so in closing i think i will continue to use the factory ford brakes and install the kleen wheels dust shield.

Well I agree with cloud10's post.

As I have said many times on different boards, for $70 I use the Kleen Wheels and they work great. There is no dust---period. The rubbing of the caliber someone mentioned is an indication that they are not installed properly. They should be placed in the wheel first then the wheel mounted to the truck.

I have them on all four wheels. When I do need breaks, due to wear, I will replace them with Ford replacements of the time and still keep the Kleen Wheels.

Oh, my dealer installed them for me for free during a tire rotation. He actually recommends them and they have put them on Expys and Navs.

For those that have gotten the new pads for free, or otherwise, there will still be some dust. I have none.

Bob

thanks expybob after getting your reply i feel much better about my choice to use the kleen wheels dust sheilds this is exactly what i want NO DIRTY WHEELS PERIOD!!!!! my friend at the detail shop loves them. once again folks use caution in changing your pads the factory ones dirty as they may be were engineered for your expedition to stop on a dime,9 cents change. theses are 7300 lb gwrv vehicles they need to stop!!!!

expybob that was i who made the comment about the calapers rubbing what i meant was that the detail guy who installs these told me that while most of the time there is no rubbing and yes they can be installed improperly-- all he was saying is that ocassionally there can be some casting rough spots on the calapers that may rub even on a proper installation and that you will see on the back side of the kleen wheel dust shield where that rough casting slage (which should have been trimmed at the manufactuer) is rubbing needs to be dremmel tooled off. he says its uncommon but does happen. my luck ill be the one that needs trimmed. thanks expybob its good to know someone having such great results with this product its my choice too!! NO MORE DUST, YES!!!!

Here are the ceramic pads I bought, but still have not got them on my 04, hopefully this weekend.

TRW Ceramic F Exped/NAV 2003, part #16-934-12, bought on line from Philsinc.com, cost with shipping for two fronts 62.66.

For 04 owners makes me really mad, mine was built 11/03, I read 12/03 the 04's had the new pads...
