03+ - Brake Dust Update

I spoke with the manager at my Ford dealer today and found out there is a TSB about the brake dust on the 03 Expedition. It states that durring 4th quarter of this year there will be new pads, and that dealers shouldn't replace any pads until then.

I finally found this out after talking to two service managers, three service advisors, and finally speaking with the parts manager.

Thumbs up Brake Dust Update

I think this rumor is true. I received a email for my colleague who is an OEM supplier. Testing of the new pad formulation (39th iteration of the forumula) has been successful. Less dust from the front test pads than from the rear OEM (original pads). I can live with that!!

It's not really a rumor, but a fact...the manager let me read over her shoulder.

When they change the pads they are going to have to change my running boards too...due to staining.

Bug the service department until they offer to call you when they come in?

I'm going to go in there every few weeks starting on September 1 and ask.

If you find out what the TSB # is let us know! My local dealer just says "they all do that". :-staun

Thanks!

[sarcasm : on] Oh yea nothing I'd rather do than spend time at my local Ford Dealer .

I also doubt my service advisor can actually read! LOL [sarcasm : off]

Dave - Can you tell us the name and location of your dealer so I can steer mine towards them if they can't 'locate' the TSB for the brakes? Thanks!

Sherwood Ford in Salisbury, MD

I spoke with "Pat" the Parts manager, and she showed it to me on her screen.

I have developed a rattle in the rear of my truck...so I'm going up there at noon to make an appointment...I will try to get a printout or at least a date of the TSB.
