Almost five months now. No dust and tired of hearing the whiners. There are two choices, change them at your own expense and still suffer some dust or buy the Kleen Wheels and enjoy the dust free environment that they afford.
I had my tires balanced and rotated today and found no excessive dust "Hiding" in places that could cause problems. In fact I found no dust at all underneath the truck.
Some people live for fighting the system but I myself will roll with it.
There are plenty of makes and models that suffer from this.
My truck does not have a problem anymore, Thanks Kleen Wheels, and for those of you that want to take Ford to court , get a life, at least they came up with a solution, unlike Chrysler(etc.)
Stop whining, grow up, because all of your legal threats are generally unfounded and not persued. Just wasting bandwith.
There is a lot of hot air associated with this topic but no success.
Best wishes, don't bother to "Flame" me i'm already tired of listening to your moans---Bob
Actually, Kleen Wheels cover the rotor and change the appearance most of us are seeking when spending $3K or more for chrome wheels (don't hate the player, hate the game). Kleen Wheels and similar products definitely eliminate the brake smog, but defeat the purpose of expensive wheels by placing a plain black cover directly behind the wheels. Its a style thing some folks just don't get. Myself, I'd rather wash. Call this an un-Whine....
I wishI had something to do with the design, it would have never happened in the first place.
The point is I've seen many vehicles on the road with the same problem. I was disappointed myself with a two day old truck.
Rather than use an extensive amount of emotions and pent up angst I sought a solution.
KLEEN WHEELS. I don't workfor them and have no affiliation at all with the company. (I work for the Army) but they do what they say with no degredation to the brakes or their ability to performed as designed and no heat related problems.
My dealer installed them.
I'm as happy with my truck as I was with my 97, 99, 2000, and the current 2004.
I have a lot of experience with Exp'y's.
Some people just like to make themselves miserable and try to get others whipped up to fight a battle that is already lost.
Me, I sit back and solve the problem and look with amusement at those who just can't accept reality.
Ford is not replacing brake pads for free---got it? Good.
i hear ya and agree with ya. More to life than fightin over brake dust. Oh' I wanted to ask ya, did you have any problems with your kleen wheels causing heat on your rotors?? Please let me know. I just got mine in today for my 04 f150 4x4 supercrew and I am putting them o tomorrow. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm waiting on mine to come in any day now. I found they were running a special on the original Black Matt finish that was 4 for $79.95. Wasn't sure that was what all you guys were purchasing, posted the question here, got some re-assurance and ordered them the next day. Then they came up as 4 for $94.95. Went ahead and ordered them but shot them a message re-confirming I saw them cheaper the previous day and they credited my account $15.00. Class company! Can't wait to put them on.

I agree in a way with Scotty 72 in that I don't like the obvious black shield behind the wheels. I like the appearance of the brake hardware visible through the wheels. For me, this appearance conveys a "performance" in stopping power. I know that this is not a sports car by any means, but I am not about to hide this great-looking brake hardware behind some shield that would then convey to any automoble performance enthusiast, "I'm too lazy to clean my wheels". Yes they DO get dirty. But, they STOP great!
in response to scott as i have previously stated in regards to appearance issues. once you have installed the kleen wheels when you show them to folks my experience is that you have to actually point them out ( i reach down and tap the kleen wheels) most folks dont even know what your talking about until u show them. u have to look closely to see them--really they are unobtrusive. also i would think if your spending a lot of cash on wheels its all the more reason to install the kleen wheels. beleive me if your spending that kind of cash on cool wheels they are going to speak for them selves and the kleen wheels if u choose the black ones will surely make that chrome shine.
and expybob i am also with you in regards to the complainers--get over it folks, move on and enjoy that expedition!!!!!
well expybob looks as though you and i totally agree with each other in regards to the cure for the "expedition brake dust problem" i would be interested to hear how daveplot feels about his kleen wheels now that he should have some mileage on them by now.
I like how they work so well i am putting them on the hot rod. heck i might even put 1 under my pillow mabe keep my head clean lol.
I'm putting a set on as we speak. Should you leave the vents on the Kleen Wheels where they can be seen or the vents behind the spokes on the wheel?
Or does it make a difference? I'm guessing if they are visible, they can pick up more air. Please reply ASAP. 2003 Eddie Bauer
Thanks,
Jorg
