Cloud10, did you shop the Kleen Wheels? Just wondering who has the best price after shipping etc...
I've decided thats the way I'm going. Please keep us posted!
Thanks,
Jorg
austinjorg, i ordered my kleen wheels and had them installed by my friend who owns a local detail shop i paid more for them than u can get them for online and i knew that but i wanted to give him some business, just the way i am. daveplot has just posted he got his from www.motorhaven.com $35.00 for 2 or $65.00 for 4 and that is the best price i have seen in my research. they come in colors now too---however that is a personal choice ---i chose black ones. also it only makes sense to get all four theses things are truely just what i needed and so far do exactly what they say they will I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO BRAKE DUST PERIOD its almost unbeleivable-- my wheels are perfectly clean as clean as if i just cleaned them there is no doubt in my mind if you get a set they will do the same for u. once again absolutely no brake dust--none whatsoever--perfectly clean shiny wheels--period!!!!!
daveplot thanks for the post on the kleen wheels you just did everyone a good deed and yes folks daveplots post lists the site
that has the best price i have seen. no doubt they are selling a lot of these devices.
for all you do it yourselfers make sure you get the vents aligned correctly and that they are facing the correct way. press them firmly into the back of the wheels and turn the tire a couple times after you remount it on the lugs to make sure they dont rub anywhere.
also i called the local ford garage and was told that the torque on lug nuts for the expeditions is 100 seems kind of high to me so u might want to check that out.
I've ordered my kleen wheels, now I'm just waiting for them...It's a shame that Ford won't fix this...
On a side note, my dealer called me and wanted to charge $328.00 to replace all of the pads...so I asked what it would cost to buy '04 pads...he had no idea (I know that the front pads are only 90 bucks).
I'll replace the pads once these wear out, I'm not paying $328 for Ford's screwup.
well folks sure looks like bewteen us all we are solving the brake dust situation either by replacing the pads or using the kleen wheels or scrubbing every 2 days without much regard from ford. ive spent 100,000.00 bucks on fords in the last 9 months and am thinking about purchasing that hot 390 hp mystichrome mustang cobra which i look so cool in might just turn into a corvette. thanks ford youve been wonderful!!! perhaps u would like to pick the tab up for cleaning the carpet in my house.
dave been 6 days no brake dust showing yet--none cheers for kleen wheels.
folks dont get me wrong i love my expedition this one is my second one and my next one will be my third they are really great vehicles dang near king of the road not too big not too small they are perfect. and this brake dust thing sure isnt a pinto problem its just nice to have the corp stand behind their products big ones or small ones, and a nusance problem like this getting not much resovle could be bad for business i cant beleive they dont see that. so whatever i love my expedition period case closed.
