Well, it has been about a week since the new Ford kit was installed. I am very happy! No squeaks, and no dust!! I paid dealer cost which I think is fair since I had about 38k on my '03 Navi. My dealer treated me more than fairly.

Dwights,

Could I get some clarification on the correct part numbers?

My 03 Expy will be in soon for the front axle groan, a sheetmetal popping sound under the body, brake squeak, shutter when braking, rusty seat frames, etc...I'd like to get the brakes replaced with the new ones If I can...since they have to order parts anyway.

The correct part number is "41-1Z-2001-BA" Two dealers have confirmed, to my face, this is the new set and the price is $115.

Thanks Dave...

Now I just have to politely let the dealer know that I want them done...

I just called my dealer and he said they are $230.00. I was shocked. He said the old ones were $115.00. No way will I pay them that kind of money. I only have two dealers to choose from withing a 100 mile radias where I live.

Guess will look for aftermarket.

Call Carlton Massey in Pocomoke City, MD or Sherwood in Salisbury, MD and order from their parts department for $115

Your dealer is in correct with the $230 price tag. The 2003 Expedition kit is $115 including front and rear pad. You should challenge your dealer. Feel free to call Morries Ford parts department at (952) 546-5441

Did call two more dealers I found. All told me $230.00, the $115.00 was the old pad. So you all might double check the part numbers.

Funny, both dealers I called knew nothing about the brake dust issues. Probably because they are small town dealers, who knows.

Raudy that is how my guys explained it to me as well. I have been buying parts from them for many years and know they would not cheat me purposely. The old pad under the 2L1 part # was $115 and the new pad with the 4L1 part # is $230. I found that doing a part search using the 4L1 number showed no such animal at all. It was only after doing a part search by application (03 04 Expedition) that both the pads showed up. Ask for pads for an 03 04 Expedition and you will get 2 options, the new and the old. If anybody got the new ones for $115 you got a bargain.

Why don't any of you buy aftetmarket pads? Why reward Ford for giving you crappy pads by paying them for new ones?

You are correct. I have now discovered that the new pads are $230. Some dealers including mine, sold them by mistake for $115. I guess I got lucky. I did spend allot of time confirming that the pads I have are in fact the new ones. I have had them for 1 week now and no signs of dust! I was expecting a little dust but none so far. :-)

I went ahead and ordered the Rabestos semi-metallic, ceramic quiet stops pads. With tax, the two fronts was $60.00. Hey worth a try, will get them on Saturday and have my son put them on soon. Whole lot less than the ones Ford are so proud of.

Funny, two other parts houses said not available for the 04's in any pads. Too lazy to check as you said and find out the 03's will fit. Kragen Auto went the step further so they got my business.

Raybestos's website doesn't show any ceramic's for the 03, or else I would buy them.

Dave thanks for that info, called Kragen Auto parts back, got a different person and they said the pads they ordered me were NOT ceramic. So, cancelled and will get a refund. Back to square one I guess.
