Maybe this has been asked before, but I've been away on a work project for several months and haven't kept up. So are the Kleen Wheels mounted to each wheel? No issues when you have the tires rotated then right?
thats correct if you get all 4 if you just do the front then you will have to change them. everyone here is doing all 4 me included it only makes sense
I agree in a way with Scotty 72 in that I don't like the obvious black shield behind the wheels. I like the appearance of the brake hardware visible through the wheels. For me, this appearance conveys a "performance" in stopping power. I know that this is not a sports car by any means, but I am not about to hide this great-looking brake hardware behind some shield that would then convey to any automoble performance enthusiast, "I'm too lazy to clean my wheels". Yes they DO get dirty. But, they STOP great!
I agree with the great looks of the hardware being forever hidden by the Kleen Wheels. So if I get too tired of cleaning them on a weekly basis, I'll just have to opt for the replacement pads.
i believe after 18 pages of discussion pertaining to this "brake dust problem" thread we have thoughly discussed every way to deal with this problem. it is clear that there is no right solution for everyone it is a personal thing.
if looking at the brake components is more important than clean wheels then the choice is obvious do nothing further.
if you opt for replacement pads you may minimize the brake dust but you will not eliminate it, you will still incurr the expense of the parts and still have wheels that need to be cleaned and your vehicle may not retain the factory stopping abilty.
if you choose the kleen wheels you will get no brake dust--absolutley none----period.
the choice is yours to make, your the captain of your ship. there is no right or wrong decision after all it is your vehicle.
thanks to all who took an active part in this thread it certainly has been wothy of discussion thats for sure and it has provided everyone with the remedies.
<TABLE class=tborder cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=4 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt1>I have a 2003 EB Expedition, loaded. Over the past year of ownership 6+ times, randomly and intermittently when applying the brakes the truck shuddered, the brake pedal felt spongy and it seemed as if the brakes wouldn't catch to stop the truck. The only way I the truck would stop was to pump the brakes.I contacted the dealership throughout and they told me to add air to the tires, see if it happened again, etc. Well, it occured again last month I drove the truck directly to the dealership and with 17,000 miles on it they replaced the brake pads (2nd time) and replaced the rotors. They did not turn them, they replaced them.
Yesterday while driving approx. 35mph, dry road conditions, coming to a stop sign this occurred again. Can anyone shed any light/advice/input/knowledge as to the potential problem and how to deal with Ford with this issue. (This is the same truck that the plant forgot to put in the heat/AC unit in the passenger side).
Much thanks in advance for any assistance. </TD></TR><TR><TD class=tfoot align=middle><INPUT class=button accessKey=s type=submit value="Submit Message"></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Bigdmizer -- was your reply directed to my inquiry of the braking issue? If so, I would have to assume that both fluid & lines were checked when I had the pads and rotors replaced on 3/30/04.

Does this only apply to 2003 Expeditions? I have a 98 that I just got, so I have not been driving it long enough to accumulate brake dust, but it would be nice to get new technology, free of charge for a change, G-d knows Ford allready had taken so much out of my pocket.....
