I don't think I've come across anyone who has gone in this deep as you have, and that's why I've been following this thread very closely.

Are you still actually crazy enough to be thinking of driving your truck all the way up to my next of the woods for me to drive your finished product? BTW, I do know how to drive a manual transmission equipped vehicle in case you're wondering. (Believe it or not, there are some customers who are dumb enough to ask)
I actually have a funny story on that. Put tires on the truck, someone else had ti drive it on the lift. My stock shifter broke...so I made one. But the guy couldn't find reverse. I watched for 15 mins before I told him left and up...that second bump stop really gets some people.

Glow plug wires are on

It's coming together

I wrapped these in electrical tape and it really kept them in their shape

Main wiring harness

The cam sensor wire was looking like it was starting to chaph.

I wrapped it up.

Just about wired

Cam sensor

Lookin like a 6.0

The crank sensor n ac wires fit thru the tensioner

Can't wait to see how this works

Well, look on the bright side. Worst case scenario if the slave cylinder is shot, changing it out for a new one is a quick and easy affair, since yours is not a concentric type slave cylinder that would necessitate transmission removal to access.

Anthony,
Looking good. You know that they make colored electrical tape?
I have a few rolls in my tool box incase I need to mark some thing
so I know what is what.

I am willing to travel if someone wants to put me up and
pay the fuel to help dig you out.
But really I would like to know what the cost to do an engine
works out to be if the only off site work was the heads and
the machine work as in bare block and a pile of clean parts.
Anthony had then do a short block and I don't know how much
they charged to do that for him. I am not sure if with all he has going on
that he knows what the total is yet. I look at it this way I get a lot of enjoyment
from building engines and getting my hands dirty.

Well, as for a total,,, I know what I had to start with,,, I've made a lil bit of money in the borrowed truck. And I had the deer strike that I just paid for,,, and I got lots of new stuff,,, centramatics, led tail n 3rd brake lights, halo headlights, $500 ficm upgrade, Bosch front brakes, changed brake fluid, crank seal kit, bout $150 n paint, trans jack, lots of shop towels, blue gloves, $4k to tousley for the overhaul kit n rockers n lifters n valves, springs, everything actually, hell,,, I don't even know what else. I kinda quit counting at $10k. I could do it again for $7k. It's the extras that really added up. I'm at about $15k spent. Sssok tho,,, I got a job,,, lol. But it's nice to know everything is new,,, not just inspected n deemed ok. What do you guys think my truck is worth???

Last pics of the day
I double layered the coolant hoses on the back of the heads

Then I covered it with hvac foil tape

I notched the big hose for the clamp

That's done

The last time I did heads on the other truck ,, this was my only leak at startup

Why stop at the engine???

New flywheel

Finally got to move the lights

Good call Mike, mine was broke.

Goin in

Like puttin a bday cake on the table. Lol

There's the starter cables n trans lines. I had to zip tie the cables to the t bracket.

Well crap,,, the ficm didn't clear the coolant bottle bracket. It was worth a shot

I was looking forward to this,,, no tranny, the y pipe n up pipe n heat shield,,, total breeze without a trans n the way

So nice

Also got the starter in,,, that kinda suked. Tomorrow it should b firing up. Late tomorrow,,, however I don't have any headlights?!?!?! The lights I got have the halos,, the halos worked fine, but the 3 little LEDs under the lamps didn't work. I shipped them back for a replacement. I'll drive her in the daytime,,, lol.

Oh btw,,, the engine didn't sit with just the motor mounts. It wanted to fall backwards. I put a strap on her to hold it forward. Pics of that tomorrow.

I might b getting mine from some knock off place. The colored tape I have isn't as thick and strong as the black. I used about 8 rolls about 300k ago,,, Time well spent. They were stiff, n went right where they needed to be with little effort.

So true. It's a very simple setup. I've changed one before. Hell, it's only $$$$$$.

Is there a quick way to bypass the clutch safety switch???? Wouldn't mind firing it up before the trans goes back in. In case those coolant lines leak, actually in case anything leaks.
