I use real mpg.
I have never lied about it.
9.36 is my worst ever, I was towing 18K in the hills.
15.8 is my best ever.
I'm confused. When you say you are "towing" 18K, are you referring to GCWR? There is NO WAY an E350 is going to hitch up an 18k trailer and pull it anywhere...at least not with all 4 wheels on the ground.
I thought it was 360 and 660? Did the new one lose 10 pound feet of tq?
either way, the V10 makes 2 more hp.
You may be correct. I know it was close to that.
Although I will take 2hp lees and all the TQ you can handle with the Diesel
Keep in mind I have a V-10 also. And when I pull the camper....... Its not with the v-10.
I like the V-10 but,,, REALLY.... You gonna hang your hat on the 2 Horse Power?????? Bad move man!
yes that was GCWR.
why would an E350 not tow 18K payload (combined , 25K)?
that is just 5K over the 20k rating.
I am sure it could move it, but pulling 18k on a bumper pull with a van or pickup would be insane.
The difference in V10 and psd economically when I purchased my pickup made it pretty easy. Fuel was cheaper than gas, and the one guy I knew that had a V10 was excited if he made 12mpg. For me I have 190k on my F350 so I have more than made up for the 5k psd option just in fuel savings. Figuring at 5mpg difference and fuel at 2.50 it is a $13k savings. I know fuel has not always been 2.50, but even if it was 1.50 I would have saved $8k. And for the first 140k miles gas was 20-30 cents a gallon more than fuel.
Sure with the new epa crap on the 6.4 the mileage sucks stock, but to be completely honest I would have a hard time not buying another diesel if I was in the market for a new pickup. I just like the way they drive.

... and like you said before you don't have to put up with the humiliation of driving a V10.

All in good fun here Just playing around.....
Dammmm I got sucked in
I know that 2 hp dose not matter in real life.
The 7.3 is a great motor. the ones i do not like are the 6.0/6.4.
The V10 has more power, but you can not argue with the mpg.
In the OBS, I prefer the 6.9/7.3 IDI and the 7.3 PSD over the 460.
But in the years that the V10 is offered it is my choice.
I have a V10 & had to push the envelope a couple times, Towed a cat loader on a flat bed tag. 40 miles one way. You could barley feel it back there. Only way you knew it was there was the v10 singing @ 3500 - 4K on start up, ran all day @ 2200. Topped the scales @ just over 27K combined loader & trailer. You just have to get the right tongue wt. Just turned 100K & now is broke in.
I used to run a Dozer all day & did not feel like driving a Dozer home from work. When we stop, I like to have the truck running & talk to the guys. When it is 85+ deg. out you do not want to shut off the ac.
All told I like the older ones IDI's But would never even think about a newer one 6.0 or 6.4. All I here is "my truck blew up after I chipped it. Now the dealer won't cover it"
& I have to pull the cab off to service it
The V10 had a couple issues with the coil packs @ first when it was wet, The dealer replaced all 10 been good to go ever since. Has 4.30's in it & will pull with any Diesel truck. 10% slower on takeoff but smother in the powerband no turbo lag.
A diesel guy rode in it & thought we were getting towed it is so quiet & smooth. V10 is a great engine with great towing capacity. All told it was a great choice. We have plowed for around 30,000 miles & towed another 45,000. Usually tow a skidster or 14,xxx Mini Excavator.
Best engine Ford came up with in a long time. I do not know about the 3v's my 2v is the whip.: Just a 2c...
here something u not adding into ur math. the v-10 is 650$ option i just seen the sticker option for a dsl 7485 to 7885. it will take will probly have to drive 125000 miles on a dsl to recovery that money if u get 18 mpg on dsl [ my v-10 gets 13-15 65no towing hwy wif 4;30rears] but wif current dsl are hard press to get that. towing wise 10-12 for a dsl wif my v-10 8-10. so far im not impressed wif the dsl when u start putting pencil to the paper.
