The diesel in a smaller car has been done. Ill see if i can find pics online, but in one of my diesel mags there is a chevele with a twin turbo dmax in it. I know thats not a real small car, but thats alot of motor.lol
I just read this. 98 % of all Gas cars are still on the road the other 2 % made it home
You are correct, however you left out the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey would say.
The rest of the gas vehicles are still out there hauling in the dead on the highway diesels, providing diesel owners rides to and from the dealers, etc. It's never ending for a gas vehicle!
I just sold a 2001 F-250 4-door short bed 4x2 SD that had 258,000 miles on it. I averaged 12mpg in town and 15-16 on the interstate at 80mph. I never did ANYTHING but change the oil every 3,000 miles and never a single issue.
I just purchased a new F-250 SD 4x4, 4-door, short bed last Saturday with a 6.5 L diesel, and so far I am at 1,089 miles and the best fuel economy I've seen yet is 12.6 mpg on the INTERSTATE and 11.1 in town. This SUX's. It get WORSE fuel economy than my V-10 Gas did!!!!!!!!!!!
take the DPF off and you'll get 20+. None of diesel have ever had to be towed any where. My 94 blew a oil line after i sold it to my bro, but i just pulled it the rest of the way home with my dodge. We had are rollback truck blow a HG and fry the motor the other day, I had to use a 2wd 2001 7.3 to pull it up a real steep hill. Id like to see a v10 do that. Not sure what it weighs, but its a 85 ltl9000 that had almost 30k on the bed.

just logged 5k mi. so far this August.
Had hefty trailer weight so much that I added an additional 15 psi to the trailer tires rating of 65 psi. I was very heavy, and the desert was so HOT I could barely touch the trailer tires when I stopped for fuel or a break.
I've got to mention that this PSD has been phenominal. Especially being able to put any Tune/ file via the OBDII port.
Averaged 13 mpg. towing using a MAX GVWR tow tune/file.
(according to the dash's mpg.)
I am very happy with my second diesel decision going from a 7.3 to a 6.0.
anything else to me seems boring. I love this powerplant.
Diesel was going for $2.55 to $2.75 across the states.

I would pull that with my V10. If the 7.3 could pull it, then even a 05- 5.4 could.
I would worry about my tranny .....
