The weird part is the picture I posted isn't the steep part, but I can't find one of "agony"....you'd have to do a 180 degree turn, then hang a left. It's much worse than that picture, but only 18.5%. I heard they had closed it after a tank went off it and killed 2 of the crew. Truthfully, 18.5 is a lot steeper than 16 when you look at it. I think the one in the picture, albeit long, is only 12 or 13% No idea how you'd pave a 60% grade either as was mentioned above.
I think it is called dyslexia?
I posted about 75% yard grade and about separate incident on motel driveway with F550 and automatic and lot of members mixed it all.
Our Mercedes SUV is capable of driving on 100% grade and I have seen pictures of such, but haven't find the rock to try on my own.
Coming back to the automatic transmission coupled to 6 liter, I was greatly disappointed with performance, although liked the quieter engine. Not only the set would hardly move via intersections, but the mentioned morning incident at the motel was not the last straw (don't think the grade was more than 7%) That happened when I filled the rental truck up. Haven't seen such a sh/// mileage since I quit driving gassers.
For major highways I always heard they wanted to stay around 7% for a max if they can. Steepest marked grade I've driven up is 18% with a turn at the base that kills speed prior to the climb.
That's the actual highway, he's talking about the construction paths to get there, which may not always be paved.
The turn at the bottom is always fun, this seems to be a common practice were I live.
Than if you are in Bay Area, don't hesitate to ask me for a ride to the City.
Been there. Walked about 2 miles of that crap one night drunk, talk about pain the next morning. I couldn't figure if the hang over or my legs where more painful.
What kind of Benz do you have? My wife and I have been thinking of getting one, probably the M-class. Would love to get the BlueTech Diesel, but it's a bit costly.
I did own almost all Mercedes diesels that made it to US in last 25 years. ML was fun when all my sons were traveling with us and gas was 99 cents a gallon.
Bluetec is not only costly to buy, but more costly to run than 320cdi. The environmental stuff is killing the economy. This is what I had in one. Notice the fuel level. I still made 100 miles to gas station.
Neither one has any real advantage. That does not test the engine either,
Now I have to disagree w/ you. The PSD has the advantage. Its advantage is in the weight and in the tq and where the tq is made. There is no reason in the world to compare the v10 and PSD performace wise. This is a clear test of the 2 engines. Cause in this what if question we can deam that both trucks hook up to ground w/ good traction we can expext the PSD to pull the v10 for the shear TQ numbers and a meer 2,200 rpms. When you gun your v10 to get to your power band your doing se
veral things to your truck that robs power. The main thing is your flexing the frame which chances the traction bite. I don't have to twist my truck in a not to render 500+ ftlbtq. I've pulled a few cocky v10 and never break a sweat. I've notice in this thread and others like it that the v10 challengers just talk about pulling a 10k trailer a certain distancve the fgastest. I would just shake your hand and sit on my tailgate. That's just a race and my PSD is'nt fast at all. Let's talk about this, I have a 38' gooseneck trailer that I pull 18000-20000 lbs of hay on w/ my PSD. Nbow let's talk about who will out pull who on what day. Read my post or come out to the farm. I abuse my fords. I work the crap of them.the v10 and PSD where built to do 2 different things. Let's not confuse them as being on the same playing ground. Brang your stock v10 and I bet real early in the day you will either. Refuse to hook up to the task or quit.
Well, 500 pages didn't settle anything, but it sure did inconvenience a few billion electrons, and disgruntled not a few posters. Guess I'll go get a second bag of popcorn and settle down for another 500 pages. And, someone ought to bring the 6.2 into the fray....
