Stock, no. With some mods, it should run with a stock 6.0.

If your not a man because you ONLY have a 5.4L V8 in a super duty, what the heck is the guy driving a 4 cylinder Ranger?

My answer is smart, because he only bought what he needed to buy, but whatever.

Actually I used the numbers from the 6.2. Johnny brought up the 6.0. Have you ever driven or towed with a 5.4 that has a manual and 4.10? Between me and a few of my cousins we have or have had an obs 7.3 with a manual and an auto, 2 SD 7.3's with manuals, 460 manual and auto, 6.0 auto, v10 auto and a 5.4 manual and auto. I have a pretty good idea how they all get a load moving.
Then do some videos of you outpulling the 6.0. I am waiting.

I never said I could out pull a 6.0. What Johnny said, and what I agree with, is that with the right tranny and gearing a 5.4 can put more torque to the ground in 1st gear than a 6.0 with worse gearing. No one is saying my 5.4 has an advantage in anything other than 1st gear.

The 6.0 that my cousin had is long gone, the v10 got traded in a few years ago(for a 5.4), the 7.3 automatic was traded in on the v10, the 460 manual got sold 3 years ago and the 460 auto is up for sale right now. They go through trucks about every year or so. There have been a few others in there, but none that would warrant a comparison(two 5.8's, three 5.0's, a 4.9, etc)

You never answered my question about your friends 7.3 or if you had ever towed with a 5.4 manual..... I would have no problem getting together with someone with a 6.0 automatic either. I will give them a good run in 1st gear and then after that it would be all over. I have relatives in Ohio and told the guys up there that I would love to get together with them the next time I am up there to visit. 400 miles one way is just a bit too far for me to drive to do a 1 minute pull up a hill.

I know this is an old topic and I am not trying to start an argument, so don't take this the wrong way. I finally got to do some work with an f-150 from the same body style as yours and I remembered us talking about this. I bought two pallets of stone a while back that weighed 1,500 lbs each(shipping weight verified on each pallet). I used about 90% of one and decided to give the rest to my father in law. I loaded these in his truck today. This is one full pallet and the rest of the 2nd. Then another 210 lbs standing on the tailgate and it isn't even sagging an inch, much less sitting on the bump stops. Could you have maybe had a little more rock than you thought if yours was dragging that bad?

If 800 lbs in the bed puts it on the bump stops, I would have to say that the truck is useless.

I have not been in a 5.4 in a super duty. I am not sure what manual he has, it is technically a 1994.5, because the mid year upgrade.

Either way, if there were a pull off 400 miles from here, I would be there.

Most people who bash the 5.4 have never driven one either. Or they had one with an automatic and 3.55 gear I an f-150 or they were afraid to run it over 3,000 rpm, etc. I'm not saying it's the best thing out there by any means, but it's a lot better than most want to give it credit for.

If you are ever in this area I would be more than happy to hook up to your trailer and take you for a ride. As long as it is within the legal capacity of my truck I don't mind hooking up to anyone elses trailer either.

I owned a Chevy 6.0 in the 1500HD (3.4 ton minus 1 leaf spring) and stock it was 300/360, so equivalent to a 5.4, but in a 1,000 pound lighter truck. I was not happy with it towing my camper, so I modded it with the air intake and programmer. It was fun to drive empty, or with a light load. But put 10,000 pounds behind it, and it was a dog. Don't get me wrong, it did the job, but it was not comfortable like the PSD.

That being said, I have agreed there is a purpose for the 5.4 and have agreed it will pull close to what a PSD or V10 will. It will NOT outpull a PSD, it will not pull ahead in first gear no matter the load, and it will not come close to the 6.2 gas engine.

Facts are facts.

But you can throw out for us to meet, but we are like 2,000 miles apart. I want to see you try to pull ahead in first gear against a 6.2 or 6.0. It won't happen. It also won't pull ahead of a NBS 7.3 on a 15% hill as you have said in the past.

So, take that! haha

Considering those trucks sit with their *** about 4" higher than the front, you are definitely sagging. You're just choosing not to see it. Sagging doesn't mean breaking the plane. Actually, I'll bet if you'd looked, you were on the bump stops. There's no WAY you had 1900lbs in a half ton bed without it being on them. (1500lbs for one pallet + 200lbs of the other, + 210lbs of oxygen thief...lol) Besides, mine was a crew cab which drops the payload capability, and that is a Scab you are showing. The scales out showed me at 840lbs of rock.

6 bags of Quik-rete will bury a Ranger unless it's the F100 type.
