Well after readin part of this i figured i had to put my .02 in. My family has always owned gasser stared with a 400ci, the a 460ci carb, then a 460ci FI, then a V10. We were always way more inpressed with the 460s than the v10s they just didnt seem to have the low end grunt and so forth,(but i know this is psd vs. v10 not 460vs v10). So in 2007 we bought our first deisel pickup and loved it from the very begging way mor power than the v10 and more fuel efficent.
All we really use these pickups is for pulling and we pull a 24 foot long 7.5 wide stock trailer and have had 12 1400 lbs cows in it. We pulled it with the v10 and the 6.0l and goin through the missouri breaks in ND and can say that the stock PSD will walk all over and stock V10 hands down.

Thanks for reading my .02

What year V10? sounds like you are talking about a 99....
The 05 was the first year that will out pull a 6.0.

Supposely will out pull it. And are you suprise that someone realize the v-10 is not that great of a engine if you tow alot and it cost more then a diesel cause you have to fill up every 200 miles.
How come both your 5.4 and the v10 in the pulls at the beginning of that thread both start to slow down at a certain point of the hill? My PSD has never done that, no PSD I have even ridden in has done that, and no videos of any PSD on here has done that... I am anxiously awaiting morning so you can post your math to see why that is and yet the v10 and 5.4 will outpull a psd.

You know i like the way you think. If there was a like button like on facebook i think i would have pushed it. haha
Well so far all the people who have quoted me and said something about what I said and took it a different and clearly didn't read what I post were all gassers.
I think some gassers who have never driven a diesel don't know how this works. The point is, when I am unloaded at 65 mph, my boost is 5psi on flat ground.
You mean without a turbo you couldn't maintain 65MPH unloaded? Or, more accurately, your mileage would suffer because it would have to increase the fuel to make up for it?
Sorry, couldn't let that go.
I know how a diesel and a turbo works. Drove one for years, w/mechanical injection. You might not realize it, but unlike a gasser, you don't have a direct "go-pedal to throttle plate" relationship.
During acceleration, if the engine doesn't spin up fast enough, the turbo pushes more air in, the PCM adds more fuel, and the result? More boost.
It's not some magic "more weight, more boost". It's a result of your application of the go-pedal, versus how fast the engine spools.
Diesel injection timing, versus fuel flow, means more boost.
I figured that out a long time ago about you gassers. You even admit that you guys have to bring facts and data in here to try to convince us that a v-10 can hang with a diesel.
Wow, facts, and DATA. Amazing.

You seem to be speaking for a lot of people that aren't even here anymore. You and ChargersFan. Two.
Present the facts. Find a V10 with the same load, time it, video it, document it, and present it as evidence.
On the contrary, some diesel people (who you claim to represent) say that it's not what you say it is.

I totally disagree, I think that duallys get much better traction than SRW trucks.

Only because there is seemingly only one (maybe two) people who agree with you to the point of blindly accepting what you say is the "truth".
The rest of us are "gassers". phillips92 is not. He has a PSD. There are others, that lost interest in diesel back when the 6.0 went south, but they aren't here anymore. Know why? They got tired of justifying their purchase of a V10 to a bunch of kids

Kinda hard to do that cause no v-10 owners around here will do that. Also I don't want to make them hate their trucks cause once we do do a pull race and other things they realize that they should have gotten a diesel in the first place.

I think they went to a cummins, still diesel though!
Oh, and by the way, I'm seriously considering suggesting to my brother-in-law that he should buy a 7.3 diesel Excursion to replace his Suburban with a burnt out Vortec.
I know that he won't mind the stink, as long as he gets decent mileage, especially around-town
