You'd have to try hard for all your exhaust studs to break. Even then its still bolted to the down pipe so the likeliness of it bouncing around is close to nothing.
Do you know what diesel fuel does to oil and bearings? Most engine manufactures say that a maximum of 5% fuel dilution at the end of an oil change interval is acceptable. In a 15 quart oil system, that works out to about 3/4ths of a quart. You had 6.4s that were making 2-3x that.
I'd rather have my exhaust manifold come loose then restroom my internals.
I'm not worried about growing oil. I'd be worried about burning valves if my Exhaust manifold wasn't properly mounted, not to mention CO poisoning since God knows a gasser doesn't burn all it gets.
that's true, but gas engines don't have regen cycles that grow oil...
True, but you don;t think gas gets into your oil with all the idling you do in a gasser? My cars all smell like gasoline when I change the oil at 5k...

My regens don't grow oil either...Truck doesn't idle enough to do that...Hell, the MANUAL says to drive it at 30mph (to cool the exhaust) when one happens. Mine only happen around 600 miles or so anyhow.

yup, idling will put any fuel into your oil. For me it's even worse. I change mine every 4k miles or so, that comes out to about every 6 months or so. But I've never had a ford with oil smelling gas. Some of my cars that had 200,000+ miles I've had that, but all my Ford have had less than 75k miles before I got rid of them. Also I just moved here a year ago, before I did mostly highway driving at well above 50 mph.

True, that if you do them a speed it won't be an issue, it's just those people who don't read the manual and do regens in their drive way.
But still, even with all m slow driving, I've never made oil. Other than that time the moron at the dealership put 13 quarts of oil in my truck that takes 6.5.
Im sorry but I literally laughed when people started saying a 5.4 can tow as good as a PSD.
Laugh all you want. I have both trucks in my driveway and the two aren't even in the same ballpark when it comes to acceleration. Most diesel guys tend to have this attitude that because their truck can pull a hill in 5th gear and the gasser needs to be in 4th, the diesel must be able to do everything better. My psd tows EASIER(less downshifting) and gets better mpg's, but my 5.4 accelerates faster and can tops hills at a faster speed.

Torque can come from either engine torque or from the gearing. See below for example.

If you watch the videos, my 5.4 did out pull both the 7.3 and the v10 any way you want to look at it. The reason I out pulled the v10 is because Mike's v10 is an automatic with a 3.73 gear. The trailer was too heavy for him to pull at that low of an rpm and he couldn't get it into the powerband. He never even sniffed peak tq, much less peak hp. The 7.3 pulled out great but it reached a speed (25 mph) where it could neither downshift or pull in the next higher gear. No matter how long the hill was, it was going to level off at 25 mph. My 5.4 is a manual and the really low 1st gear allowed me to get the engine to rev to peak hp so that I could shift gears and continue pulling in 2nd (same as Mike's 1st).

I've been driving my 250 for the last 3 months (roughly) and haven't even drove any of the cars. For me, the oil change just grew another 3 months on the cars. No difference with it sitting in the car than there is sitting in a plastic jug in my opinion...especially since I changed them all the weekend I bought the truck...It was a regular Grease Monkey all day at my house.

As long as you believe in yourself, nothing else matters....(Taken from a motivational poster I saw at a seminar)

Your truck doesn't have the active regen that mine does. I'd have free oil changes if they overfilled mine...at least 3 of them. I'm pretty persuasive in person...lol Allow me to reiterate on "persuasive"...When I pay for a service and it gets screwed up, it's a no-go.

I just call them like I see them. I don't blindly follow either gassers or diesels and claim that one side can do everything better. I have no shame in admitting another truck can do something better than mine. My psd tows easier, gets better mpg's and requires less downshifting. My 5.4 downshifts more on hills, gets worse mpg's(but still better than most 6.0's and 6.4's), but it will run off and leave my psd if I compare them head to head. Whether it be from a dead stop or hitting a hill at the speed limit, my 5.4 will out accelerate my psd and top the hill at a faster speed.
Edit- If you asked me to do the math comparing your truck to mine, I would gladly admit that there is no need to do the math. Yours has almost 100 more hp than mine and 50 more hp than the most recent 5.4. At the time mine was being made though, it had more hp than the 7.3.

Exactly....If I knew then what you knew now, I would have bought a 5.4 and said "FTW, I've got a 5.4 biatches!"
