MarchLabs claims
"bullet and shatter proof and can withstand temperatures of up to 270 F".

In addition to power-draw, I am wondering whether it can be opened for servicing, etc...

Hello Jacob and welcome to the group!

I'm more interested in duplicating it.....as small as it is I can fit two of those under the hood of my X w/ no problem. The only think I would have to by is the plexiglas which I priced at Lowes this weekend @ $50 for a 1/4x24x48 piece, oh and the glue. Something to consider...........Do you know what amp it is drawing?

You might wait and get some feedback here first...shop around for your plexiglass & etc.

Harbor Freight currently has a sale on a 60-0-60 amp dc meter for $4.99 which maybe adequate for many. They are also selling an infrared thermometer for $19.95.

I've finally installed the 4inch ABS system I had pics of several pages back. It will get a shake out the next week or so and then maybe a 500 mile test.

Yes....definitely wait for his feedback and Lowes was the first place I looked. I'm not ready for that yet, still messing around w/ my design.

Thank for the tip on Harbor Freight, I think I'll pick up both this weekend.

Can't wait to hear your results! The biggest thing holding me back is mounting my monstrosity behind my grill!

From my read on the Ebay site, I am betting the case is Lexan instead of plexiglass.

The angle in the picture makes it hard to see, but it looks like straight +-+-+-+-+-+ plate layout.

And what was that number like 60 plates?

The outside unit size tells me the plates are not big.

bornman88 has some interesting videos (and comments from the gallery) on building with sheet plastic! If you look at the related videos you'll see one from mountainhihydroguy..

Here is what march-labs emailed me back about the amp draw:

"you can vary the amps up and down to match your needs by concentration of electrolyte.. its very easy to do .. we used 30-40 amps in the video with hot electrolyte. you can get higher outputs with the use of a pwm.. we will have these shortly."

What is your gas production? 6tbls in 2.5 gal of water seems high....how do you have your plates wired?

Try measuring the lpm to get a baseline. Also when you are connected to the battery charger, what is the voltage at the generators terminals? I've noticed when I'm connected to my charger I get between 5-11 volts, but with the truck running I get between 13-14 volts.

If after running for an hour you are still below 10amps but your gas production is low I'd say add more lye. But first I'd make sure you giving enough voltage because if not you will get different results in the truck.

Hey guys i have read every page of this thread and actually already had a test unit built just havent wired it in yet but as i was reading and checking the links you guys posted i ran across this generator on ebay,eBay Motors: HYDRO SUPER 2 COMPLETE HYDROGEN GENERATOR SAVE GAS HHO (item 120287928521 end time Jul-29-08 19:17:06 PDT)

I read all of his data and seems to know his stuff so i called him.He said there are few engines that just dont respond well to HHO and low and behold the PSD was one of them.I know this is the pre PSD forum but i also know there are a lot of people here working with PSDs.He said realistically that i would see a 1 to 2 mpg increase and his unit for deisels was almost 600.00.So got me to thinking that if hes trying to sell me a unit and also tells me that its only going to give me 1 to 2 mpg's id have to think hes honest knows his stuff.

NOW before the flaming begins im not a naysayer and i do believe HHO works and im not dismissing any success anyone here has had on a PSD just giving the info from a guy who was trying to sell me a 600.00 generator.

Jason

I'd check your electrical connections (bonding!) particularly to the SS plates, you certainly don't need any more than 1 tablespoon of lye per gallon of distilled water..
