Here is my experience, it does work but you have to approach with care, you can blow **** up! (the following is not my experience but my logic) Never start the cell before starting engine particularly with MAF gas engines, heated wire in sensor will cause explosion if left on"also note plumb it in to after MAF sensor. You have to lie to computer" if working on electronic gas engines or later diesel" for this to work many circuits out there HydrogenGarage.com has some good ones, also stay away from pulse modifier circuits they do nothing for HHO production
Now on to the science part, if you use any thing to boost gas production "electrolyte" use epsom salt and or hydrogen peroxide as it is mostly hydrogen in its molecular structure. Also, the afore mentioned reduce heat and amp draw! Now for powering the unit, use a relay wired in buzz mode for 12-24volt for supply power, no more than 30 amps though. You can also get a 350watt+/- inverter and a low price variac from, masthechpowersupply.com and bridge rectifier also a blocking diode for the high amp 12volt" as you are adding this higher voltage to the circuit already mentioned" this will allow you to produce more gas with as little power draw as possible, key for this is to augment fuel mileage.
Any question will be answered if you have any, this is just my own experimentation with this and it has worked out just fine so far.
Also use stainless steel 304 or better grade to reduce, replacement or cleaning of cell components.

Reason: adding in futher advice
bottom line dose this work? or is it a wast of my time. i can pull 18 mpg taken it easy at 65 mph with just a programmer. if i can get over 20 mpg it would be worth it. i know this is a old thread. there is way to much to read here. if it works i will read every thing. and build one. i have been reading about hho for some time now and i think for gas it would work good. but for my truck? not to sure.

It does but you have to have enough to matter to the engine.
I built a smack booster a few years back and even though I could get it to work like a microscopic (and thats real tiny) blow torch in the garage, it was not enough to make any difference on a 7.3 IDI for either mileage, power or cleaner exhaust.
Switching to Biodiesel was more of an improvement!
If you can get enough HHO into the engine it will assist in burning more of the Diesel fuel in the chamber causing more energy to be released making a little more power and efficiency.
And because Hydrogen and oxygen are explosive when combined...
I do believe it would also cause the Diesel fuel to ignite (as in flame front travel) much faster than on it's own increasing chamber pressure aiding in efficiency as well.
I had a back flash on the bench and the hose up to the flame arrestor blew off with a LOUD BANG!
I dread to think of the smack booster blowing up without that flame arrestor!
