My dad is a parts manager for International. They see people every day buy the wrong parts and are just trying to save you the trip back. Little advice, be nice and see what price you can get. The prices aren't set in stone and I guarantee that if you walk in with an attitude you will be leaving with considerably less dough in your wallet. FYI you should be able to sweet talk around $100-110 (won't even mention my cost).

Lclause sorry if I sounded harsh. But it's the same old song and dance. A lady goes in a store for a certain item. The sales guy trying to helpful, asks " Whats it for" thinking deep down inside, "this lady must have made a mistake on the part number" Because that's the wrong part for her engine. I get real upset with some parts guy trying to tell me what I want or "that won't work" type of answer, Just give me the dang part and I'll be on my way.
It seems to happen very time I send my lovely wife of 30yrs, to the store for something I need for a project I'm in the middle of. She comes back with something totally different, Well the guy said "this will work better". Oh well I need a break anyway, get in the truck and go to town and get the part I wanted in the first place.
Well I am thick skinned so no worry. I feel that I am not doing to bad if you consider I figured the truck problem out myself without taking it to a shop and I phoned the part in and my husband went and picked it up. So needless to say by the time he got it home it was late, raining and dark and i just wanted to fix my truck and totally forgot about the "blue" and figured the parts person was right and it looks like the one I took out! So all in all..I should have stuck to what I first ordered but I fixed my truck myself without spending a fortune and now I can forward this knowledge to the rest of my friends and not be steered wrong.

Well there I go putting my foot in my pie hole again.
I should be getting my blue "synchronizer" (Ford speak) tonight in the mail. I had my brother pick one up for me...I'll be putting it in tomorrow if it shows up.
Just wanted to check up with you guys to see how well or worse your MPG have gotten running the new CPS. Please post your results if you have it.
I INSTALLED MY BLUE CPS ABOUT 3 TANKFULLS AGO. ON MY 4TH NOW.
I HAVE NOT NOTICED A BIG CHANGE IN MPG LIKE SOME OF THE OTHERS HAVE REPORTED. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO RUN MUCH DIFFERENT .
I HAVE SEEN MAYBE ABOUT 0.4 MPG GAIN BUT WILL KEEP CHECKING.
STILL..... I THINK THE BLUE CPS IS STILL GOOD TO HAVE ..... WITH MAGNETISM THAT STRONG AS COMPARED TO THE STOCK ONE, MAYBE IT WILL NEVER GO OUT.
PLUS..... WAS SITTING NEXT TO 80,000 MILES AND THAT WAS GETTING CLOSE TO ABOUT THE TIME FRAME THAT THE ORIGINALS GO OUT.
NOW HAVE ORIGINAL IN THE GLOVE BOX AS A SPARE.
SOME GUYS REPORTED GETTING UP TO 1.9 MPG GAIN..... BUT NOT FOR ME.
MAYBE I NEED TO BABY IT ON THIS NEXT TANK FOR MORE MPG.

Installed mine the other day. I haven't had enough time to notice increase in fuel economy. What I have noticed is that it seems smoother which in turn I think makes it sound more quiet. International has them listed basically the same price as the original, so give it a shot.
I called my IH dealer the other day. First I asked for a CPS for a DT466. When he gave me a price I asked him if it was the 'blue' one. He said "no, the they've been updated to a new black one" ??????
Shall I buy a new one or go elsewhere for a blue one??? Anyone else hear of this??

How about giving him a part # for the blue cps.
Nut
Remember the talk about people finding that the CPS for the 444 in our trucks was working better in the 466? Do you think that IH has changed the replacement CPS for the 466 to the one that came standard in our 444s? Then, they would be an updated new black one.
You still want the blue one though. Like nut said -- give him a part #, not a year, make, model type of spec.
Part #1807339c92. When I metioned this to my dad and most of the mechanics at international they said they have used the t444e for the dt466 but have not heard of the 466 for the 444. One mechanic however, has done it several times and said you should notice better cold weather performance.

I installed mine on Saturday (2 days ago). Since then I have put roughly 210 miles on the truck. Observations:
1. Smoother idle. No joke. It used to feel like it had a slight miss while idling. I know it wasn't missing, just a fuel imbalance; no biggie.
2. Quieter operation. Not that the engine is THAT loud to begin with, but while cruising down the interstate at 75 MPH (2050 RPM), the engine is barely audible.
3. The possible negative side effect........
Under very light loads (uphill driveway in 1st gear at about 1400 RPM), there is a very audible ticking sound. Now I first noticed this with the upload of the SCMT 1705 tune (70 OR 90 HP setting), but it wasn't really that obvious. After installation of the "blue" cps I have noticed that this loud [injector] tick is very noticeable and easy to duplicate.
After discussing this with a programmer friend of mine, we have come to the conclusion that possibly the hall-effect sensor is positioned differently in the sensor body causing the falling edge of the digital signal (the one used for triggering) to occur sooner....slightly advancing injector timing. So guess what I'm going to do next Saturday. I'm going to take a waveform of the new CPS with my Fluke 97 and then install the old CPS (which only had 1500 miles on it) and do the same. Then I'll lay the two waveforms on top of eachother. My guess is that I'll come up with a similar digital signal, but just slightly (milliseconds) sooner rising and falling edges (since the signals will have to "look" the same because the cam sprocket isn't being changed).
Just an idea. I'll let you know Saturday.
Since I'm selling my SCMT, I'm going to return the programming to stock as to not possibly "over-advance" the injector timing and end up with a block window (PMR's)....that would suck. If the timing is NOT advanced due to the CPS, I will return to using the 90 HP tune until I sell the unit because the milage increase is SO worth it.
